Mitsubishi has already confirmed that the Pajero will officially be coming back later this year. The Pajero is one of the vehicles that put Mitsubishi on the global automotive map, transforming it into a respected car brand.

As such, the next-generation Pajero arguably has big shoes to fill, given the nameplate’s popularity and legacy. While we wait for the arrival of the all-new Pajero, Australian government approval documents suggest that it could come with a total of six variant options, as reported by automotive publication Car Sales

The report states that the documents show that the upcoming Mitsubishi Pajero for the Australian market could come in four different trim levels: entry-level GLX, mid-range GLS, Exceed, and top-of-the-line GSR. While there are four main trim levels, Car Sales said that the documents reveal a total of six trim options for the all-new Pajero.

The reason for this is that Car Sales believes that the variant options will be a total of six due to the seating configurations. Car Sales shared that the GLX trim could come with a five-seater configuration while the GLX and Exceed variants could offer both five- and seven-seat options. Meanwhile, the top-spec Pajero GSR could feature a seven-seater configuration.

Aside from the possible trim options, the Australian government approval documents did not reveal the powertrain options for the upcoming next-gen Mitsubishi Pajero. While we wait for further details, Mitsubishi has recently released a new teaser for the upcoming Japanese cross-country SUV

Mitsubishi revealed that the next-generation Pajero will come with a tri-gauge meter, a feature that’s regarded by many, such as car enthusiasts, as an iconic or classic Pajero component. The Japanese automaker shared that the inclusion of the tri-gauge meter is a homage to an iconic feature popularized in previous Mitsubishi Pajero generations.

Mitsubishi said that the all-new Pajero cross-country SUV will be equipped with a modern version of the tri-gauge meter. For the next-gen model, it will come with a Multi Meter, which is a digital triple meter display that is engineered to deliver authentic off-road performance that enables safe, secure, and comfortable driving across various weather and road conditions.

Autocar’s Take

The next-generation Mitsubishi Pajero could come with a total of six variant options in Australia, offering five- and seven-seater configurations. This makes the Pajero a versatile option once it is launched in the market. Its five-seater option could cater to individuals who want to have a vehicle with maximum cargo space, while its seven-seater option could cater to buyers who want to have extra seats in the third row.

But take note, the news reported is not yet official. What’s sure is that the next-gen Pajero has big shoes to fill, given the success of the previous generation models that have achieved.
