Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corporation (MMPC) has announced that the Xpander was the highest-selling model in the Philippines last year, based on its internal sales data. In the same statement, the company said the Xpander also retained its position as the Philippines’ best-selling multipurpose vehicle (MPV) for the third consecutive year.

MMPC’s announcement follows the release of 2025 industry insights from the Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines, Inc. (CAMPI) and the Truck Manufacturers Association (TMA). The consolidated data from both organizations showed total industry sales reaching 491,395 units. Within that total, Mitsubishi sold 86,808 vehicles across its full lineup, placing it second overall among reporting brands for the year, behind Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP), which sold 229,447 units.

The Xpander accounted for a significant portion of MMPC’s annual volume, posting a total sales record of 28,081 units. Mitsubishi said this figure placed the Xpander ahead of the competition as the country’s best-selling nameplate in 2025. Its claim holds bearing as industry experts reported the Xpander coming ahead of the long-standing leader, Toyota Vios, by around 270 units. The figure also highlighted the Xpander as the reigning best-selling MPV in the Philippines for the third straight year, fending off its close rival, Toyota Avanza, which sold a total of 24,704 units.

While CAMPI’s official releases rank brands by overall volume instead of individual models, MMPC’s statement focuses specifically on nameplate-level performance. The distinction explains how Toyota maintains overall market leadership, while the Xpander can simultaneously lead in sales of individual models.

MMPC attributed the Xpander’s sustained performance to its dealer network coverage and its established nationwide after-sales presence. To mark the sales milestone, MMPC announced a promo campaign offering savings of up to P120,000 on select Xpander variants until March 2026.

Positioned as a 7-seat MPV, the model competes in one of the country’s most demanding segments, where space, ground clearance, and operating costs remain key purchase considerations. MMPC cited product updates introduced in 2025 for the Xpander lineup, including Active Yaw Control (AYC). The system, designed to assist stability during cornering by adjusting braking force between the front wheels, had previously been limited to higher variants.

Autocar’s Take

Mitsubishi’s Xpander, topping the Philippines’ model sales chart in 2025, shows how well the vehicle aligns with local mobility needs. In a market where practicality often outweighs prestige, the MPV’s proven versatility, spacious seating capacity, and manageable ownership costs continue to resonate with Filipino buyers.

The result also highlights MMPC’s ability to sustain momentum through steady product refinement. Achieving the country’s best-selling model status, even amid intense competition, underscores the importance of understanding market realities. The Xpanders’ performance shows that consistency and relevance remain powerful advantages in today’s automotive landscape.
