The Manila International Auto Show (MIAS) 2026 will proceed as scheduled from April 9 to 12, despite growing concerns over rising fuel costs and economic uncertainty. This news was confirmed by WorldBex Services International (WSI), the organizer of MIAS, in an official statement it released on March 27.

Set to take place at the World Trade Center Manila in Pasay City, with an expanded coverage into the Philippine Trade Training Center (PTTC), this year’s event will bear the theme “Powering Mobility.” According to WSI, the four-day motor show will emphasize solutions-oriented mobility, aligning with current industry and consumer challenges.

The decision to proceed with the show comes at a time when global fuel supply concerns and fluctuating fuel prices continue to affect transportation and consumer behavior. In response, MIAS 2026 aims to highlight practical and forward-looking mobility solutions, as opposed to simply showcasing new vehicles.

A total of 25 automotive brands are expected to participate, presenting a mix of electrified and next-generation vehicles. These brands include 212, Aito, BAIC, Bestune, BYD, Changan, Chery, Denza, Deepal, DFSK, Foton, GAC, Geely, GWM, Jetour, JAC, Kia, Lotus, Lynk & Co, Mini, MG, Omoda & Jaecoo, Radar, Rox, and Tata. A key focus on new-energy vehicles (NEVs), including electric vehicles (EVs) and hybrid technologies, alongside developments in charging infrastructure and environmentally responsible transport solutions.

The event will also introduce new features, including the Overland Experience Grounds Concept, which promotes sustainable outdoor travel and off-grid lifestyles. Meanwhile, the Truck Pavilion will expand to include commercial mobility solutions, including electrified transport options. In addition, MIAS will again partner with BPI for auto financing solutions, with a focus on enabling access to EVs through exclusive offers during the event.

Finally, MIAS aligns with national policies such as the Electric Vehicle Industry Development Act (EVIDA), reinforcing its focus on carbon-neutral and eco-friendly mobility. WSI says the event will also support the ABS-CBN Foundation, continuing its integration of social responsibility with industry development.

Autocar’s Take

Proceeding with MIAS 2026 amid the ongoing fuel crisis is a calculated but defensible move. Instead of ignoring current realities, WSI appears to be reframing MIAS as a platform for solutions, particularly in electrification and efficiency. This shift is timely. With fuel costs rising, consumer interest in EVs and hybrid technology is likely to grow, making MIAS a relevant event for education and exposure.

In essence, proceeding with MIAS is a controlled business risk, which the organizers and even the car brands themselves are willing to take. It is good to know that WSI and all the car brands joining are still up to the challenge. With this in mind, MIAS 2026’s success will depend on how exhibitors translate innovation into affordability and real-world usability. Here’s to hoping that all the collective efforts behind the commencement of MIAS 2026 will be worth it.
