Gazoo Racing (GR), the motorsports and performance division of Toyota, has unveiled the GR Yaris Morizo RR. It’s the latest to headline the GR Yaris’ nameplate, developed in collaboration with Toyota Chairman and master driver Akio Toyoda, known by his racing pseudonym “Morizo.” The prototype made its first public appearance at this year’s Tokyo Auto Salon, reinforcing Toyota’s commitment to performance-oriented vehicles and racing-inspired engineering.

The Toyota GR Yaris Morizo RR is the result of insights gained from intense competition at the 2025 Nürburgring 24 Hours endurance race, where GR’s efforts and the GR Yaris platform demonstrated endurance and performance under demanding conditions. As part of the development process, GR merged expertise from its core motorsports activities with the refinement capabilities of its Toyota Gazoo Rookie Racing (TGRR) branch, underscoring Toyota’s strategy of strengthening its performance vehicle portfolio through real-world competition.

Designed and honed for driving enthusiasts who value an exhilarating connection between man and machine, the Toyota GR Yaris Morizo RR incorporates a number of bespoke features not found on standard GR Yaris models. Among these enhancements is a specially tuned suspension system set to provide improved handling and balance across varied driving conditions. Aerodynamic upgrades include an exclusive carbon-fiber rear wing, delivering substantial downforce while maintaining everyday usability.

Unique to the Morizo RR is a 4WD control mode developed with direct input from Chairman Toyoda himself. This mode optimizes torque distribution between the front and rear axles to achieve a balanced 50:50 setup, enhancing traction and responsiveness. Inside, the hot hatch receives bespoke touches such as suede-covered surfaces with the chairman’s preferred yellow stitching and a serial-number plate bearing the Morizo RR emblem, reflecting its limited-edition status.

The exterior color, called “Gravel khaki,” highlights Toyoda’s personal aesthetic choice, combining rugged character with everyday appeal. Completing this unique palette are bronze wheels and yellow brake calipers that echo the car’s performance pedigree.

According to Toyota, it will offer the GR Yaris Morizo RR in a restricted run of 100 units for the Japanese market, with reservation applications already open via the Toyota GR app. A further 100 units are slated for release in selected European markets.
