
Toyota and Nissan are all set to bring their respective headliners to the 2026 Tokyo Auto Salon, happening at Makuhari Messe from January 9 to 11. These two Japanese automakers intend to make a statement at the said show by premiering their latest models.
Toyota announced that its Gazoo Racing (GR) division will showcase the all-new GR GT and the GR GT3, which both made their global reveal last December 5, 2025. Now, Toyota GR is all systems go to stage the first public debut of the GR GT and the GR GT3 at the 2026 Tokyo Auto Salon.
Toyota shared that it intends to give visitors an up-close and detailed viewing experience of cutaway models of its first all-aluminum body frame production vehicle, which is integrated in the GR GT and the GR GT3. The automaker added that it will also display several other vehicles, including the GR Yaris Morizo RR and the GR Yaris Sébastien Ogier 9x World Champion Edition.

The Toyota GR booth will also feature official GR merchandise, which includes 1/43 scale models of the Toyota 2000GT, Lexus LFA, and GR GT. A special edition GR Oakley sunglasses will also be featured, as well as merchandise developed in collaboration with American apparel brand New Era. Toyota will also relaunch the GR app at the said event and will be displaying GR Heritage Parts.

Nissan, on the other hand, will be debuting a NISMO concept car along with several other displays, including upcoming vehicles, customized cars, and more. Visitors at the Nissan booth can also browse a wide selection of Nissan and NISMO merchandise for sale.

Information about the NISMO concept car is limited as of this writing. Nissan remains coy in sharing what’s in store for its new concept car, but it did confirm that it will be bringing the new Fairlady Z that features refreshed styling aimed at increasing aerodynamic performance. Nissan also said that the Z NISMO with a manual transmission is among its upcoming vehicles, and it will be on display at the 2026 Tokyo Auto Salon.

The Nissan X‑Trail Rock Creek Edition will also be among the car brand’s arsenal for the Tokyo Auto Salon. Nissan shared that the X‑Trail Rock Creek Multibed Wildplay was designed for the great outdoors. It is equipped with a custom rugged exterior and interior, waterproof seats, and outdoor-themed accessory packages to support camping excursions.
Other vehicles to be showcased by Nissan include the following: Nissan LEAF Autech, the Motul Autech GT-R Super GT car, and a classic Nissan March. The latter is a vehicle that was restored by students at Nissan Automobile College, and it features a refreshed exterior and manual transmission conversion.
