Back in July, GAC Philippines launched three new MPVs that include the all-new GN6, E8 hybrid electric vehicle (HEV), and the GN8 plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV). All three GAC MPVs are built with GAC’s more than 10 years of MPV engineering experience and over 880,000 MPVs delivered worldwide.

To give more details about its new HEV MPV, GAC shared five reasons why the E8 is the perfect family MPV, especially for those with active households.

A Cabin Space that Adapts 18 Different Ways

The GAC E8 HEV features what the car brand calls “Magic Storage” seating system, which transforms the MPV’s interior into 18 distinct configurations. The E8’s seven-seater cabin can be transformed into a spacious cargo hauler for an assortment of items. This is made possible by stowing the third row completely flat, expanding cargo space from 345 liters to 1,917 liters.

GAC Philippines said that the E8 HEV also features Tea Break Mode, which transforms the third row into an outdoor-facing lounge. This allows you to chill at the backmost seat while the seats are facing outwards, creating an instant tailgate spot for weekend road trips.

First-Class Comfort with Cutting-Edge Technology

The GAC E8 HEV is equipped with second-row captain seats, which are upgraded on the GX variant to one-touch zero-gravity captain seats with ventilation, massage functions, and power leg rests. It also comes with an 8.8-inch digital cluster and a 14.6-inch infotainment touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Supported by wireless charging and seven dedicated USB ports, GAC PH said that every family member can power their devices simultaneously.

Lightweight Driving Dynamics that Effortlessly Move 7 Passengers

GAC PH claims the E8 HEV delivers quick acceleration, as it is powered by an electric drive motor with 300 Nm of instant torque and a 2-speed Dedicated Hybrid Transmission (DHT). The Chinese car brand added that the GAC E8 HEV’s 2-speed DHT removes shift jerks and noisy engine revs to create a smooth, linear acceleration curve.

A Hybrid System Made for Long-Distance Drives

The E8 HEV combines a 2.0-liter Atkinson-cycle hybrid engine with an electric motor, generating a power output of 180 horsepower. GAC PH claims the E8 HEV offers 1,000 kilometers of range on a single tank and can do 17.9 km/l fuel economy rating on a 60-liter tank.

Sustainability in Both Fuel and Environment

GAC PH said that hybrid electric vehicles “deliver immediate financial and environmental advantages” without requiring changes to daily refueling routines or home charger setups. The car brand added that HEVs yield “lower weekly fuel bills and reduced maintenance overhead.”

Reservations for the GAC E8 HEV MPV are now open at GAC dealerships nationwide. It is currently offered with an introductory price that starts at P1,778,000 for the GL variant. Meanwhile, the top-spec GX trim comes with an intro price of P1,918,000. GAC PH is offering the introductory prices for the E8 HEV until September 30, 2026.

Autocar’s Take

GAC Philippines shared reasons why the E8 HEV is a perfect family MPV. It offers versatile interior space, which can accommodate up to seven occupants while having the capability to also be a cargo hauler by folding its third-row seats flat. It also has second-row captain seats, with the GX top-spec trim featuring zero-gravity seats with ventilation, massage functions, and power leg rests, which can make daily drives more relaxing. The GAC E8 HEV is available with an introductory price that starts at P1,778,000, and it is available until September 30, 2026.
