Lexus Philippines is extending its role in supporting the Philippines’ hosting of the ASEAN Summit, with Toyota Motor Philippines Corporation (TMP) expanding its mobility partnership for the 49th ASEAN Summit and Related Summits in Metro Manila this November.

The agreement builds on TMP’s participation as the Official Mobility Partner of the ASEAN National Organizing Council (NOC) during the 48th ASEAN Summit in Cebu. The expanded collaboration was formalized through a supplemental agreement signed by TMP President Masando Hashimoto and NOC Director-General for Operations Undersecretary Ma. Hellen De La Vega, together with officials from the Presidential Communications Office and Lexus Philippines.

Under the arrangement, TMP, through the Lexus brand, will provide a dedicated fleet of electrified vehicles for the transport of visiting heads of state, official delegates, and dialogue partner representatives during the high-level gathering.

The fleet will consist of Hybrid Electric Vehicles (HEVs), specifically the Lexus LS 500h and Lexus LM 350h. Both models will be deployed across Metro Manila as part of the mobility support for the international event.

For Lexus Philippines, the partnership goes beyond simply supplying vehicles. Lexus Manila and TMP technical service teams will provide end-to-end operational support throughout the summit to help ensure the fleet remains smooth, secure, and reliable.

The use of HEVs also reflects Toyota’s multi-pathway approach toward carbon neutrality. According to TMP, the approach combines passenger safety, reliability, refinement, and reduced environmental impact rather than relying on a single vehicle technology.

Hashimoto said TMP views ASEAN as one strategic region and sees the Philippines as having strong potential to play a leadership role within the region. He added that the company is committed to providing seamless, dignified, and greener mobility under the theme of the Philippines’ ASEAN chairship, “Navigating Our Future, Together.”

The 49th ASEAN Summit will serve as the culminating high-level assembly of the Philippines’ 2026 ASEAN Chairship, bringing together leaders from Southeast Asia and partner nations.

The partnership also carries a practical government-resource angle. All vehicles provided under the arrangement will be on loan and returned after the completion of the ASEAN 2026 hosting period.

With the Lexus LS 500h and LM 350h assigned to official summit duties, Lexus Philippines is positioning its electrified luxury vehicles not only as premium transportation but also as part of the country’s broader effort to provide dependable and more environmentally conscious mobility during a major international gathering.

Autocar’s Take

Lexus Philippines’ expanded role in the 49th ASEAN Summit is a good example of where premium mobility can serve a practical purpose beyond simply moving people in comfort. The choice of the Lexus LS 500h and LM 350h also makes sense for an event involving heads of state and senior delegates, particularly with the added benefit of hybrid power.

More importantly, the vehicles are being provided on loan and will be returned after the ASEAN 2026 hosting period. That makes the arrangement easier to appreciate from a public-resource perspective. For Lexus, meanwhile, the partnership gives its electrified luxury lineup a high-profile real-world assignment in Metro Manila.
