Japanese carmaker Nissan has taken the wraps off the updated Kicks e-POWER at the ongoing 47th Bangkok International Motor Show (BIMS) 2026, giving its electrified crossover a long-awaited refresh aimed at maintaining its edge in the hotly contested hybrid SUV segment.
The updated Kicks draws inspiration from the version sold in South America, where it is marketed as the Nissan Kait. This global link is evident in its redesigned exterior, headlined by a more aggressive-looking front end slimmer LED lighting elements, and a significantly reworked grille that departs from the brand’s V-Motion design. New exterior accents such as metallic-finish front and rear under protectors, and updated side mirror styling with integrated LED turn signals, reinforce its more premium and sporty appearance.
At the rear, the new Kicks gets an updated tailgate and taillight design, while freshly redesigned 17-inch alloy wheels complete the visual makeover. As it stands, these changes make the most substantial update to the ASEAN-spec Kicks since its debut in 2020.

Inside, Nissan has revised the cabin with a more modern layout. Updates include a larger infotainment display, redesigned air vents, and improved materials throughout. A new digital instrument cluster interface and an electronic parking brake with auto-hold feature are also present to provide a more convenient and safer driving experience. The model continues to offer Nissan’s 360° Safety Shield suite, alongside connected features designed to enhance everyday usability and driver confidence.
Despite the visual and tech upgrades, the updated Kicks retains its tried-and-true e-POWER hybrid system. As such, the familiar 1.2-liter gasoline engine is still present and acts as a power generator to charge the battery, while an electric motor drives the wheels. This setup delivers a hybrid experience that feels closer to a full-on electric vehicle (EV) in everyday driving.
The system remains centered on a 100% electric motor drive, with output figures in the ASEAN market expected to stay around 136 hp and 280 Nm of torque, paired with a lithium-ion battery system for smooth and responsive acceleration. Nissan highlights that the e-POWER setup eliminates the need for external charging, as the gasoline engine generates electricity to power the motor, offering EV-like driving without range anxiety.
Aside from its regional debut, the refreshed Nissan Kicks has also been confirmed for the Philippine market. The model, which signals Nissan Philippines continued push toward electrified mobility, is set to make its local premiere at the 2026 Philippine International Motor Show (PIMS), happening from June 4 to 7 at the World Trade Center Manila in Pasay City. Its arrival is pegged to strengthen the brand’s position in the growing hybrid crossover segment, where demand has steadily increased amid rising fuel costs and shifting consumer preferences.
For the Philippine market, the update to the Kicks could not come at a better time. The Kicks e-POWER has become a steady seller locally since its launch in 2022. But increasing competition in the hybrid crossover space has prompted the need for a refresh.
While Nissan Philippines has yet to confirm a specific launch timeline beyond its 2026 PIMS debut, the new Kicks’ appearance at the Bangkok show is sure to spark plenty of expectations that it will arrive soon after, either before 2026 ends or early in 2027.

Autocar’s Take
The updated Nissan Kicks e-POWER arrives at a time when motorists are becoming more conscious about fuel costs and daily driving efficiency. Its hybrid system, which delivers an EV-like experience without the hassle of looking for a dedicated charging station, remains one of its strongest advantages in real-word use.
The refresh is timely, especially as competition in the segment continues to grow with newer, more feature-packed rivals. A design and tech update helps keep it relevant, but pricing and variant strategy will ultimately determine its success. Its confirmed debut at the 2026 PIMS makes it one to watch closely this year.
