Isuzu D-Max keeps its price, for now. How long will it last?

Isuzu Philippines Corporation (IPC) has recently announced that its pricing for the D-Max pickup truck will remain unchanged for now. This comes after the implementation of the adjusted excise tax on pickups, which has started affecting the industry.

The company clarified that the stable pricing applies only to its current stocks, with price adjustments expected to take effect once these units are sold out. In other words, IPC is giving interested buyers of the D-Max to take advantage of the price hold by scoring one now before it replenishes its stocks, as new arrivals will come at a higher price due to excise tax adjustments.

As it stands, the Isuzu D-Max is currently priced from P978,000 to P1.9 million, depending on the trim. According to IPC, the move to temporarily hold this current price point comes as buyers enter the peak season of making vehicle purchases.

Under the new tax regulation, pickup trucks, which were previously exempted from excise tax, are now included in the government’s program to raise additional revenues. The added cost has prompted several car manufacturers and distributors to increase retail prices of their pickup offerings.

“Now is truly the best time to experience the Isuzu D-MAX. As we are treating our customers by holding off price increases on current D-MAX stocks while supplies last. This buying season, we encourage customers to experience the strength, dependability, and value that the Isuzu D-MAX delivers,” said Mr. Robert Carlos, IPC Sales Division Head.

The Isuzu D-Max has long been IPC’s contender in the highly competitive segment. It competes with such models as the Toyota Hilux, Ford Ranger, Mitsubishi Triton, Nissan Navara, among others. The Isuzu D-Max is marketed as both a workhorse for business use and a recreational vehicle for outdoor adventures.

In addition to keeping the D-Max Price steady, IPC is also highlighting the pickup, along with the mu-X SUV, at this year’s Isuzu Xperience Mobility Tour, a series of mall-based events that span across the country. The roadshow allows customers to take a closer look, feel, and test drive Isuzu’s popular models, while also learning more about financing deals such as a P35,000 low downpayment option on select variants under the Power Plus Deals promo.

IPC says that all its dealers nationwide are still offering the D-Max at its current price, but reiterates that this will only last until stocks are cleared.
