BYD chairman Wang Chuanfu has visited the Philippines, underscoring the country’s growing importance to the Chinese automaker as it expands its global push toward electrified mobility.
Wang, who also serves as president of BYD Co., Ltd., visited the country as the company and local partner ACMobility marked the progress of their partnership, which began in 2023. His trip included visits to several BYD dealerships, DENZA showrooms in Alabang and Cebu, and ACMobility charging hubs.
The visit gave Wang a firsthand look at the Philippine electric vehicle market and the infrastructure being developed around it. He also met with frontline employees and listened to customer feedback, highlighting the importance BYD places on understanding how its products are being received locally.
“The Philippines has become one of the most exciting and promising markets for New Energy Vehicles in the region,” Wang said, pointing to the country’s accelerating electrification momentum and ACMobility’s efforts to support customers.
The numbers point to the fact that BYD’s Philippine footprint has expanded considerably since the partnership began. The company now has 81 dealerships nationwide, while premium brand DENZA has four. Together, the networks are intended to make BYD and DENZA’s electrified vehicles more accessible to customers across the country.

For ACMobility, the expansion goes beyond simply selling vehicles. CEO Jaime Alfonso Zobel de Ayala said the company’s strategy includes distribution and retail, charging infrastructure and after-sales support, with the goal of making electrified mobility a practical option for more Filipino households.
That infrastructure push includes more than 200 electric vehicle charging locations nationwide, according to ACMobility. The company is also developing digital solutions designed to give customers and businesses easier access to charging stations and service centers.
BYD Cars Philippines Managing Director Bob Palanca described Wang’s visit as a vote of confidence in both ACMobility and the potential of the Philippine market. The company says it plans to continue expanding its lineup and improving the ownership experience as demand for electrified vehicles grows.
Meanwhile, BYD and DENZA Philippines Country Head Adam Hu said both brands will continue working with their partners to expand their networks and invest in the local EV ecosystem.
With BYD already maintaining one of the largest EV dealership networks in the country, Wang’s visit suggests the Philippines is becoming more than just another overseas market for the company. It is now part of BYD’s electrification story.
Autocar’s Take
Wang Chuanfu’s visit is significant because it shows that BYD is paying close attention to what is happening in the Philippine EV market. An 81-dealership network, four DENZA outlets and more than 200 charging locations represent a considerable footprint, particularly for a market where electrification is still developing. What stands out, however, is the focus on the ownership experience rather than simply putting more electric vehicles on the road.
Charging and after-sales support will ultimately determine how comfortable Filipino motorists are with EVs. If BYD and ACMobility continue investing in those areas, the Philippines could become an increasingly important market in BYD’s global electrification strategy.
