Honda Cars Philippines, Inc. (HCPI) is now in its 35th year in the local automotive industry. To celebrate, the Japanese brand is currently holding its 2025 Honda Fest at the Festival Mall in Alabang until December 7, 2025. It’s an event featuring all things HCPI, chronicling its more than three decades of history through car displays of old and new models.

Although the sight of faithfully maintained Hondas brought back fond memories, one thing caught many people’s attention: the unveiling and preview of the all-new Honda Prelude in the Philippines. According to HCPI, the Prelude is scheduled to arrive early next year. It, however, didn’t mention anything related to how the model will be spec’d for the local market. But, based on past halo-car releases, such as the outgoing Honda Civic Type R, we can expect the local rollout to follow many of the global model’s specifications.

Globally, the 2026 Prelude marks the return of the storied coupe’s nameplate after a 24-year hiatus. It adopts a hybrid powertrain, which Honda calls its e:HEV system. It features a 2.0-liter gasoline engine paired with a dual-motor system. The unit delivers a combined output of around 200 hp and 315 Nm of torque, controlled via e-CVT that features the new Honda S+ Shift. The S+ Shift is a sport-focused drive system that sharpens throttle response, simulates gear shifts in the e-CVT, and delivers a more engaging, performance-oriented feel.

Within the Prelude’s smooth, aerodynamic body is a chassis derived from the FL5 Honda Civic Type R. It gets the Type R’s stiff underpinnings to deliver responsive handling and crisp steering. Its body design embraces a low and sporty profile, with a smooth roofline, sharp front fascia, and flowing lines that reflect the model’s heritage while projecting athleticism.

Inside, the Prelude offers a refined cabin that blends sporty and practical cues. Despite its 2-door coupe and 2+2 seating configuration, it remains usable for everyday driving. Honda crafted the interior with the aim of balancing driving pleasure with real-world usability, suited for the electrified era.

Safety and driver-assist technologies come standard. The Prelude carries the Honda Sensing advanced driver-assistance (ADAS) system. These include adaptive damping, strong brakes, and a suspension system tuned for both agility and comfort. The package underscores the Prelude as more than just a stylish car, but also a serious grand tourer for enthusiasts who value refinement.

As HCPI gears up for its official arrival next year, many are waiting and eager to see how it will perform in the Philippines, both in style and substance. But how much will HCPI price it? Until HCPI releases another announcement, your guess is as good as ours.
