Geely Philippines is looking to further expand its model lineup as it previewed the EX2 at an auto show. The EX2 is Geely’s all-electric subcompact hatchback that has been selling well in several markets, including in its home country, China.

The Geely EX2 is one of the car brand’s most popular models, as it posted cumulative deliveries of 500,000 units in just 14 months after launch. This is said to be the fastest among all electric vehicles launched in China from 2024 to 2025. The Geely EX2 has been launched in Brazil, Indonesia, and Thailand. In Brazil, the car brand noted that the EX2 ranked second in local electric vehicle sales just 16 business days after launch.

Now that it has been previewed in the Philippines, the EX2 is among the new vehicles that Geely plans to launch in the local market. It is also considered to be part of the Chinese car brand’s product push in achieving its goal of recording 7,000 unit sales this year. The EX2 is built on Geely’s GEA architecture, and it is integrated with a rear-wheel-drive multi-link suspension, as well as a minimum turning radius of 4.95 meters, and an 11-in-1 electric drive.

It also has a Flyme Auto intelligent cockpit system, which is complemented by a 14.6-inch infotainment touchscreen, as well as a suite of advanced driver-assistance system (ADAS) functions such as adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, and lane departure warning, among others.

Based on the uploaded spec sheet on the Department of Energy’s website, the Geely EX2 could be offered in two variants, Pro and Max, once it is officially launched in the Philippines. Both Geely EX2 variants come with an electric motor that can generate 114 horsepower and 150 Nm of torque. It has a claimed top speed of 130 km/h along with three drives (Eco, Comfort, & Sport), and is equipped with a 39.4 kWh battery that allows the EX2 to have a maximum electric range of 395 kilometers (NEDC).

The EX2 was showcased alongside the Geely EX5 EM-i during the 2026 MIAS. Of note, the 2026 MIAS runs until April 12 at the World Trade Center in Pasay City.

Autocar’s Take

The MIAS appearance of the EX2 shows that Geely Philippines is committed to its promise of launching new vehicles in the local market. The Geely EX2 comes with an accomplished resume as it is one of the most popular models in China. It also managed to get the market appeal in countries such as Brazil, where it ranked second in local electric vehicle sales just 16 business days after launch.

With the way things are transpiring, it seems that the EV segment in the country will be packed with contenders, and the Toyota Urban Cruiser has a lot of company, which includes the Geely EX2.
