Honda has announced the start of pre-selling for the all-new Honda Prelude, making the very first official debut of the sports coupe in the local market under Honda Cars Philippines Inc. (HCPI). Beginning February 27, 2026, customers may start making reservations for the Prelude, which the Japanese carmaker globally reintroduced in 2025 as a hybrid electric vehicle (HEV).
Discontinued in 2001, the Prelude returns with a renewed focus on blending heritage with contemporary technology. HCPI positions the model as a bridge between the brand’s performance legacy and its electrified future, combining sporty character with efficiency and usability as a daily ride.
Built around the concept of “Unlimited Glide,” the all-new pPrelude emphasizes comfort and refinement, alongside its dynamic capability. Its low-slung proportions and clean outward visibility aim to enhance driving confidence, while suspension components derived from the Civic Type R contribute to elevate driving precision without sacrificing riding comfort.

One key highlight of the all-new Prelude is the Honda S+ Shift technology. Unlike ordinary Honda HEV systems where the paddle shifters control regenerative braking levels, the S+ Shift introduces simulated gear changes designed to enhance driver engagement. Through coordinated visual cues, sound effects, and seat vibrations, the system recreates the sensation of shifting gears, offering a more interactive driving experience.
Despite its sporty profile, Honda puts practicality as the Prelude’s core attribute. The model is engineered to function as a daily driver, featuring a roomy cabin and cargo area capable of accommodating groceries, sports equipment, or luggage for the weekend vacation. The balance of performance and practicality highlights Honda’s intention to broaden the Prelude’s appeal beyond enthusiasts.
Powering the Prelude is Honda’s e:HEV full hybrid system paired with an E-CVT transmission. HCPI claims that the model delivers a Department of Energy (DOE) certified fuel economy rating of 25.6 km/LGe (kilometers per liter gasoline equivalent), solidifying the brand’s push towards more efficient mobility solutions.
The local-market Prelude will be offered in a single 2.0 e:HEV E-CVT variant and will be available in Moonlit White Pearl, a color exclusive to the model. For those looking to drive home the Prelude in other colors, the model will also be available in Rallye Red, Racing Blue Pearl, Meteoroid Gray Metallic, and Crystal Black Pearl.
Honda says interested buyers may reserve the all-new Prelude through autorized Honda Cars dealerships nationwide.
Autocar’s Take
The debut of the Honda Prelude is one of the most anticipated developments in the local automotive industry this year, and it is not simply because of nostalgia. More importantly, it is about what the model represents for Honda’s evolving identity. Instead of resurrecting the nameplate as a traditional sports coupe, the brand has chosen to reinterpret it through electrification.
This reflects changing buyer expectations where efficiency and practicality for everyday use matter just as much as driving enjoyment. The S+ Shift system also shows how automakers are trying to preserve emotional engagement in hybrid vehicles. If HCPI prices the all-new Prelude competitively, it could appeal to buyers seeking something distinctive – a sporty car that fits realistically into the Philippine market that puts high value in practicality.
