Geely Auto has chalked up another milestone in its global expansion. The Chinese carmaker recently reported first-half 2026 sales of 1,422,958 vehicles as demand for its electrified lineup and growing overseas presence continued to fuel its momentum.

The company said the six-month total reflects sustained growth across both domestic and international markets, with overseas business emerging as one of its strongest performers. Geely noted that it has already exceeded its total overseas sales for the whole of 2025, underscoring the rapid pace of its global expansion.

A major contributor to that growth has been the company’s New Energy Vehicle (NEV) portfolio. Hybrid and battery-electric models continue to gain traction in multiple markets, supported by an expanding range that includes the EX5, EX5 EM-i, EX2, and other electrified vehicles tailored for international customers. The automaker has also been accelerating launches across Europe, where it recently introduced new models in Spain, Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium and Luxembourg as part of a broader expansion strategy.

Beyond exports, Geely said it is strengthening its overseas footprint by investing in localized operations, including manufacturing, logistics, aftersales support and dealer development. The company believes building a more complete ecosystem outside China will allow it to better serve customers while supporting long-term growth in key regions.

While the latest announcement focused on Geely Auto’s performance, the wider Zhejiang Geely Holding Group also posted strong results during the first half of the year. Across its various automotive brands, the group delivered nearly 1.94 million vehicles globally, highlighting the scale of its operations beyond the Geely marque. Meanwhile, electrified vehicles accounted for more than half of Geely Auto’s total deliveries during the period, reflecting the company’s accelerating shift toward new-energy mobility.

The latest figures also reinforce Geely’s ambition of becoming a stronger global automotive player rather than relying primarily on its domestic market. As competition among Chinese automakers intensifies overseas, the company continues to position itself through a combination of electrified products, localized operations and broader market coverage.

For the Philippines, the results could signal a steady pipeline of global models for Geely Motor Philippines as the brand continues to strengthen its local lineup with new hybrid and electric offerings. With overseas demand continuing to climb, Geely appears well positioned to sustain its international momentum through the second half of 2026.

Autocar’s Take

Geely Auto’s latest sales milestone is more than just another impressive number — it reflects how Chinese automakers are now reshaping the global automotive landscape. Selling more than 1.4 million vehicles in just six months, while setting new overseas records, shows that Geely’s strategy extends far beyond its home market. What’s equally noteworthy is the growing role of hybrid and electric vehicles in driving that success. In Philippine context, it raises an interesting question: which of Geely’s expanding global lineup could be next to arrive? If current trends continue, local buyers may have plenty to look forward to.
