Japanese auto parts manufacturing company Aisin is celebrating its 60th anniversary. This milestone underscores its role as a well-established supplier of original equipment (OE) parts and equipment globally.

Aisin started its journey in 1965, setting out on a journey to become one of the world’s largest producers of automotive components, particularly automatic transmissions and drivetrain systems. Aisin has strong ties with the Toyota group. With this in mind, it supplies parts for the Japanese carmaker, as well as other car brands such as Honda, Mazda, Subaru, Isuzu, Mitsubishi, and Volvo.

Aisin entered the Philippine market in 1990 as Toyota Autoparts Philippines, Inc. This was made possible through a joint venture between Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC) and Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP). The partnership enabled Aisin to establish a manufacturing facility in San Pedro, Laguna, marking the first manual manufacturing plant outside of TMC in Japan.

In 2018, Aisin became the top shareholder of the business venture. This move resulted in a rebrand in 2019 to what it’s now known today as Toyota Aisin Philippines, Inc.

Today, Aisin maintains a strong presence in the local automotive aftermarket parts industry, with its distribution exclusively handled by Riken Motor Sales, Inc. This allows Filipino motorists, workshops, and retailers to access OE-grade replacement parts for Japanese and Asian vehicles, which make up most of the country’s automotive market.

Aisin carries a wide range of components. These include drivetrain parts such as clutches and CV joints, cooling systems like water pumps and fan motors, and braking products sold under its ADVICS brand. Additionally, Aisin offers engine parts such as ignition coils, timing chains, among others. Having studied the Filipino market, Aisin has upgraded itself into a one-stop shop where people can also purchase lubricants, fluids, filters, wiper blades, and more.

Looking ahead, Aisin has committed to investing in new technologies, geared towards electrification, autonomous driving, and sustainability. It will also continue to uphold the fundamentals of safety and reliability, the qualities that defined its six decades of success.
