Toyota United Arab Emirates (UAE) has issued a safety recall that involves over 29,000 Land Cruiser 300 units. The recall is due to potential problems involving the engine, electronic control software, and automatic transmission, according to a report by Gulf News.
The safety recall campaign is being conducted in coordination with the Ministry of Economy and Tourism, and there are 29,774 Toyota Land Cruiser 300 vehicles affected by the three recall campaigns. The affected models are said to be units that have been manufactured in Japan between 2021 and 2024.
The first safety recall affects 6,571 units of the Land Cruiser 300 that were manufactured in 2023 and 2024. The report said that manufacturing debris could contaminate and damage the engine’s crankshaft bearings. This, according to Toyota UAE, could cause knocking noises, as well as difficulty starting the engine. In some cases, the recall report states that the engine could stall while the vehicle is being driven, which could lead to a crash.

The second safety recall involves 7,453 Land Cruiser 300 units manufactured between 2021 and 2024. This recall is about a potential problem with the Land Cruiser 300’s electronic control unit for the V35A engine. It is stated that the engine control software may not account for the effect of cooling-fan operation. It could also decrease engine output when the accelerator pedal is fully pressed, which could cause a less optimal driving experience.
The third safety recall involves 15,750 Land Cruiser 300 vehicles manufactured between 2021 and 2024. This recall is due to a potential issue with the vehicle’s 10-speed automatic transmission. The report said that a potential fault could cause excessive rotational speed when certain gears are used. As such, this could damage the transmission or result in a decrease in power output. It could also lead to a transmission fluid leak.
As such, we have reached out to Toyota Motor Philippines to confirm whether Philippine-market units are affected by the three safety recalls issued in the UAE. We will update this story once Toyota PH responds.

Autocar’s Take
Toyota UAE has issued three safety recalls that involve over 29,000 Land Cruiser 300 units due to potential problems involving engines, electronic control software, and automatic transmission. With that, recalls should not be taken seriously by both the car brand and the clients, as they are a measure that helps prevent untoward injuries or accidents. Recalls occur or are issued despite brands implementing quality checks before the vehicle rolls off their production line. Think of recalls as a way for car brands to address safety concerns and ensure that vehicles continue to perform as intended. Issuing a recall also shows that a brand remains committed to its customers even after the vehicle has been purchased.
