The (United Asia Automotive Group, Inc. (UAAGI), has announced that its Radar electrified pickup brand recently achieved a milestone. Case in point: the company reported a sharp increase in sales of the Radar RD6 electric pickup in June, signaling growing interest in electrified pickup trucks among Filipino buyers.
According to UAAGI, it sold 112 units of the Radar RD6 in June, up 155% from the 44 units recorded in May. The latest figures suggest that more customers are beginning to consider electric pickups in a segment that has long been dominated by diesel-powered models.
Known globally as the Riddara RD6, the pickup is built on a dedicated electric unibody platform instead of the traditional body-on-frame layout commonly used by midsize pickups. UAAGI said this design, combined with an independent multi-link rear suspension, aims to deliver a more comfortable ride while retaining the practicality expected from a pickup truck.
Performance is also one of the RD6’s key selling points. The dual-motor four-wheel-drive variant produces 381 horsepower and 485 Nm of torque, enabling it to accelerate from zero to 100 km/h in 5.7 seconds.

Another standout feature is its vehicle-to-load (V2L) capability, which allows the pickup to supply up to 3.5 kW of electricity through outlets in both the cabin and cargo bed. This enables users to power tools, appliances, or other electrical equipment while away from conventional power sources.
The fully electric RD6 Econ is offered with battery capacities of up to 73 kWh, providing a claimed driving range of up to 443 km on a single charge. For buyers seeking greater driving flexibility, the RD6 EM-P 4WD plug-in hybrid variant offers a combined EV and hybrid driving range of more than 1,000 kilometers.
UAAGI also highlighted the pickup’s lower ownership costs compared with diesel-powered alternatives, citing reduced operating and maintenance expenses over a three-year period. Depending on the variant, the company estimates savings of between 76% and 84%.
The RD6 also offers a payload capacity of up to one ton, an 815 mm wading depth, and is backed by a five-year or 150,000 km vehicle warranty, along with an eight-year or 200,000-kilometer high-voltage battery warranty.
UAAGI said the Radar RD6 lineup will be featured during the UAAGI on the Move Leg 2 roadshow from July 16 to 19 at the Fashion Hall of SM Megamall, where visitors can view the vehicles and participate in test drives.

Autocar’s Take
The Radar RD6 is proving that the local electric pickup segment may be ready for an even bigger consumer acceptance. While pickup buyers have traditionally favored diesel models, strong month-on-month sales growth puts into view that some consumers are now willing to consider EV alternatives, especially when lower operating costs and advanced features are part of the package.
The real test, however, is whether this momentum can be sustained beyond early adopters. Continued dealership expansion, reliable aftersales support, and charging infrastructure will ultimately determine if the Radar RD6 becomes more than a niche offering and establishes itself as a serious contender.
