Honda Foundation, Inc. (HFI) extended help to the affected families in Barangay Cotcot, Liloan, Cebu, due to the onslaught of Typhoon Tino. HFI donated boxes of bottled water to the affected community, as the water supply has yet to get back to normal.
Honda shared that 11 municipalities in Cebu have been greatly affected by Typhoon Tino, having water supply interrupted due to the heavy rain and strong winds brought upon by the typhoon. HFI said that a week after the calamity, zero percent of the water supply had been restored, leaving communities the lack of having safe drinking water.
As such, associates from the Cebu office of Honda Philippines, Inc. (HPI) visited the affected communities that were submerged in floods. To aid the communities’ recovery, HFI donated a total of 20,160 1.5L bottles of drinking water to 1,680 families. Local residents and officials, headed by the Barangay Captain, Hon. Martin Yungco, directly received the packages from HFI.
HFI and Honda Cars Philippines, Inc. (HCPI) President Rie Miyake expressed her sympathy to the affected communities and hopes that they can recover soon.
“We at Honda are so saddened to hear that our fellow Filipinos in Cebu have been hit with another tragic calamity. We would like to reach out and offer our sympathies to all affected and sincerely hope that they are finally able to recover soon,” Miyake said.

This is not the first time that HFI has helped the affected communities in Cebu. Last October, HFI donated relief packs to 500 households in Barangay Binabag, Bogo City, Cebu, which were severely affected by the earthquake.
The relief packs contained essential food items and were distributed directly to the families and through the barangay’s purok leaders to ensure they were delivered efficiently and fairly. The relief operation in Bogo City, Cebu, was also carried out by a team of dedicated HPI Cebu Associates.
