
Motor Image Pilipinas, the official local distributor of Subaru vehicles, recently held its 2025 Technical Skills Competition. The event gathered the best technicians and auto mechanic professionals from Subaru dealerships across the country. The competition is highlighted by a series of written and hands-on assessments, designed to measure technical capability, consistency, and problem-solving skills within the brand’s after-sales network.
In more detail, this season’s overall winner is Jay Adrian Mendoza, a senior technician from Subaru Iloilo, who came out on top after leading both the technical and practical components of the competition. The participants were tasked to diagnose issues, perform repairs, and demonstrate familiarity with Subaru systems under timed conditions. Mondoza posted an overall score of 79%, securing the top rank.



Two technicians from Subaru Greenhills completed the podium – Joshua Binugan who finished second with 71%, and Bien De Guzman who placed third with 64%. Event organizers said the results reflect the strong representation and highly trained personnel from Subaru dealers in the Philippines.
The challenge is not done yet as Mendoza will move up to represent the Philippines in the Regional Technician Skills Competition. To be held in Singapore, Mendoza will go up against top Subaru technicians across Asia. Winners at the regional level will advance to the Global Finals in Japan, the highest technical contest within the brand’s service networks worldwide.
The Subaru Technical Skills Competition plays a key role in evaluating the readiness of the brand’s technicians as its vehicles continue to adopt more advanced systems, including its boxer engine technology, symmetrical all-wheel drive, EyeSight advanced driver-assistance system (ADAS), and the Subaru Global Platform. The event also helps identify training priorities for dealership service teams. According to Motor Image Pilipinas, it will continue developing its training programs to strengthen service capabilities and maintain consistent support for customers.
