A Chinese government filing shows that Great Wall Motor (GWM) could soon introduce the long-wheelbase (LWB) version of its Tank 700. This is after a new regulatory filing was published by China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), as reported by CarsNewsChina.
The LWB version of the Tank 700 features a larger body and a three-row seating configuration that can accommodate six occupants in a 2+2+2 layout. This means that the Tank 700 LWB is basically the extended version of the Tank 700 Hi-4Z, which was previewed by GWM in the Philippines last April 2026.
As a review, GWM PH showcased the Tank 700 Hi-4Z, a five-seater plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV), at the Manila International Auto Show. It comes with a rather sporty yet rugged front fascia because of how the bumper is designed. Also noticeable is the ventilated hood, honeycomb grille design, as well as the sharp character lines integrated into the front bumper, wheel arches, and side profile.
The Tank 700 that was previewed by GWM PH comes with a five-seater capacity, with the usual 2+3 seating configuration. With it being previewed at one of the major auto shows in the Philippines suggests that GWM is looking to introduce it locally. Of note, the Haval H7 was showcased alongside the Tank 700 back in April, and the Haval H7 has been available in the Philippines since June.
Going back to the Tank 700 LWB. Based on China’s MIIT, the Tank 700’s overall length increased by 340mm, while the wheelbase grew by 150mm. With this, the Tank 700 LWB has a six-seat capacity with a 2+2+2 seating setup with second-row captain seats.
Design-wise, the Tank 700 LWB looks similar to its five-seater version, aside from the obviously longer body. It still has a sporty yet rugged styling that’s complemented by prominent wheel arches and crisp character lines. The Tank 700 LWB is said to be fitted with either 20-inch or 22-inch wheels.
The regulatory filing lists two powertrain options for the Tank 700 LWB. The first option is a 2.0-liter turbocharged plug-in hybrid, or Hi4-Z in GWM speak. This hybrid powertrain comes with a 59.05 kWh battery, which is said to deliver up to 190 kilometers of electric driving. The other powertrain option is a 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 engine that produces up to 355 horsepower. There’s no word yet as to when GWM will officially launch the Tank 700 LWB.

The Tank 700 is arguably one of the most distinctive vehicles on display at the Manila International Auto Show last April. It looks sporty while at the same time rugged, which gives the Tank 700 a unique appeal. The Tank 700 that was previewed by GWM PH back in April comes with a five-seat layout. To put things in perspective, it seems that GWM is planning to launch an LWB version of it, making room for an extra passenger, as it will reportedly come with a 2+2+2 seat layout.
