Geely is among the car brands that are ready for the electric vehicle era, as it has already been producing new energy vehicles (NEV) with a hybrid or electric powertrain. The Chinese automaker aims to further make its products smarter and tech-savvy as it introduced its Global Electric Architecture (GEA) platform.

Geely said that the GEA is a vehicle platform designed to integrate electric powertrains with advanced digital systems. GEA combines hardware, software, ecosystem connectivity, and artificial intelligence into a unified system. This results in having an even smarter electric vehicle since it uses a centralized electronic and electrical structure, which is said to be designed to support intelligent vehicle functions and over-the-air software updates.

The Chinese car brand shared that the GEA platform is one of its major investments in its next-generation vehicle development strategy. Geely added that the GEA is like the vehicle’s central super brain, which utilizes an Ethernet backbone with transmission speeds of 100 Mbps. Through this, the vehicles become smarter and more technologically advanced, as it enables faster data transmission and quicker intelligent responses.

The GEA platform also supports various drive configurations while incorporating an integrated 11-in-1 electric drive unit. Geely explains that this integration combines the motor, electronic control, and transmission into one compact housing. As a result, it reduces the overall vehicle weight, as well as lowers the vehicle’s center of gravity, contributing to enhanced cornering control and stability.

Geely added that the GEA platform includes the integration of high-resolution display systems and integrated audio technologies, including the Flyme Sound system, with headrest-mounted speakers.

Safety is also one of the improvements brought upon by the GEA platform, as Geely noted that the battery is built directly into the structure of the architecture itself. This approach, according to Geely, protects the energy cells during collisions and significantly increases torsional rigidity, reaching up to 31,000 Nm/deg.

In the Philippines, Geely is aiming to have a stellar year as it announced that it targets to sell 7,000 units, while expanding its dealer network to over 40 outlets nationwide to improve market coverage and accessibility. Geely Philippines also confirmed that it will be launching several new models throughout 2026

Autocar’s Take

Geely is consistently looking for ways to make its products smarter, more technologically advanced, and more efficient. Its new GEA platform is said to make Geely vehicles more tech-savvy while at the same time increasing efficiency and overall vehicle performance and safety.

This is a good sign that car brands, such as Geely, are continuously developing technologies that can make vehicles better. It also shows that Geely is prioritizing introducing and developing tech advancements that would be integrated into its vehicles, a move that can give more value to the brand. Overall, new advancements are a welcome sight, and by continuously finding ways to improve them, it will benefit the consumers.
