ChevronPH, Edukasyon.ph expand Cloud Computing Scholarship for professionals

Chevron, marketer of Caltex fuels and lubricants, has renewed its partnership with Edukasyon.ph to support a second cohort of scholars under the Amazon Web Services (AWS) re/Start program, aimed at equipping unemployed and underemployed Filipinos with essential cloud computing skills. The latest batch of 50 scholars completed the intensive training program in April 2025.

The AWS re/Start program offers a comprehensive 9- to 12-week curriculum that includes technical instruction and soft skills development, preparing participants for entry-level positions in cloud-based information technology. The program also connects graduates with potential employers through a dedicated career fair, with this year’s lineup including Chevron, Bayad Center, Kuehne + Nagel, Stratpoint, Boss Jobs, Promotexter, Software One, ECloud Valley, Absi, and Maverick.

Raissa Bautista, Senior Corporate Affairs Advisor at Chevron Philippines, emphasized the company’s long-standing commitment to inclusive education and workforce development. “This program provides learners with renewed hope and the opportunity to pursue careers in a digitally driven world. The future holds limitless possibilities, and we’re proud to help participants begin this journey,” she said.

Joshua Toquero, Strategic Account Manager at Edukasyon.ph, noted that the renewed partnership with Chevron reflects a shared mission of empowering Filipino youth and professionals to achieve their career aspirations. “We want our scholars to realize that they are not alone—many are willing to support their growth and help them succeed,” he said.

Among the program’s graduates is Paolo Gio Espiritu, who faced job loss during the pandemic and multiple rejections in the IT field before securing one of the 50 scholarship slots. He emerged as one of the top performers. “At 33, this program reminded me that it’s never too late to start over,” he shared during his graduation speech.

Another graduate, Nika Amorin, also shared how she overcame the challenge of managing work and study. “My persistence paid off. The hands-on learning approach offered a level of real-world experience that I wouldn’t have received elsewhere,” she said.

AWS Philippines Country Manager Precious Lim thanked Chevron for its continued sponsorship. “In today’s digital economy, cloud computing skills are fundamental to innovation. Chevron’s support plays a vital role in equipping Filipinos with the tools to thrive,” she noted, recalling her own career beginnings as a Chevron intern.

Chevron’s backing of the AWS re/Start program is part of its broader commitment to advancing education and career readiness in the Philippines. More information on Chevron’s initiatives is available at www.chevron.com/worldwide/philippines.
