Geely is adding a new flagship to its Philippine SUV lineup, with the Monjaro EM-i scheduled to make its local debut by the end of October 2026.

Described by Geely as its “Executive Performance Flagship,” the Monjaro EM-i is a D-segment SUV that combines a plug-in hybrid powertrain with premium-oriented features, intelligent technology, and all-wheel drive.

The upcoming model forms part of Geely’s continued expansion into new-energy vehicles, giving the brand a larger electrified SUV offering for the Philippine market. Geely says the Monjaro EM-i is designed to appeal to buyers looking for a vehicle that can handle daily city driving while also offering the comfort and versatility expected from a premium SUV.

At the heart of the Monjaro EM-i is Geely’s EM-i Super Hybrid system, which is designed to balance performance with energy efficiency. It also introduces Geely’s e-AWD Intelligent Electric All-Wheel Drive System to the company’s overseas model lineup. The system is intended to provide additional traction and stability across different road conditions.

Underneath, the SUV uses Geely’s new-energy-native GEA Evo architecture, which supports multi-energy powertrains, flexible use of cabin space, safety technologies, and intelligent vehicle systems. It is paired with the GEEA 3.0 electronic and electrical architecture.

The technology continues inside the cabin. The Monjaro EM-i gets Geely’s Flyme Auto intelligent infotainment system, while also becoming the brand’s first overseas vehicle equipped with the Xingrui Intelligent Large Language Model. Geely says these technologies are intended to create a more connected and adaptive in-car experience.

Comfort is another major part of the Monjaro EM-i’s positioning. Its spacious cabin is designed with both the driver and passengers in mind, with Geely pitching the SUV as equally suited to business trips, family use, and weekend travel.

Safety features include active and passive safety technologies alongside Geely’s Shendun Battery Safety System, which is designed to provide additional protection for the vehicle’s electrified powertrain and occupants.

The Monjaro name comes from Mount Kilimanjaro, Africa’s highest peak, reflecting the SUV’s positioning around ambition and capability.

Geely has yet to disclose Philippine-market specifications, pricing, or availability details. These will be announced closer to the vehicle’s official launch.

For now, the Geely Monjaro EM-i is scheduled to arrive in the Philippines, giving Geely another entry into the increasingly competitive premium SUV segment.

Autocar’s Take

The Geely Monjaro EM-i is an interesting addition to the Philippine SUV market, particularly because Geely is positioning it above its more mainstream offerings. The combination of plug-in hybrid efficiency, e-AWD, a spacious D-segment body, and a technology-focused cabin gives the Monjaro EM-i plenty of ingredients to stand out.

The big question, however, will be its Philippine specification and pricing.

Those details could ultimately determine whether this Geely hybrid SUV becomes a serious alternative to established premium SUVs. With the local launch set for October 2026, the Monjaro EM-i is certainly a model worth watching.
