BYD Cars Philippines has already surpassed its entire 2025 sales performance, posting 28,399 units from January to August 2026 and nearly doubling its sales from the same period last year.
The figure represents a 99% year-on-year increase and puts the automaker ahead of its full-year 2025 total of 26,122 units, with four months still remaining in 2026. The brand sold 4,682 units in August alone.
The strong performance follows a record April for BYD Cars Philippines, when the company registered its highest-ever monthly sales figure of 5,730 units. That was a 258% increase compared with April 2025, further highlighting the growing demand for new energy vehicles (NEVs) in the local market.
Plug-in hybrids have been a major contributor to the brand’s growth. BYD Cars Philippines sold 22,555 DM-i vehicles during the first eight months of 2026, up 95% from the 11,542 units recorded during the same period last year.
Leading the DM-i range is the BYD Sealion 6 DM-i, which is also the company’s best-selling model overall. It recorded 7,759 units sold through August, accounting for 27% of the brand’s total sales. The BYD eMAX 9 DM-i added another 2,512 units to the year-to-date tally.
BYD’s battery-electric vehicle (BEV) lineup has also continued to gain ground. BEV sales reached 5,844 units from January to August, representing a 115% increase from the 2,720 units sold during the comparable period in 2025.
The BYD eMAX 7 led the fully electric range with 1,975 units sold, accounting for 34% of the brand’s total BEV sales for the period.
BYD Cars Philippines Managing Director Bob Palanca said the sales performance shows that electric vehicles have entered the mainstream in the Philippines, citing innovation, practicality, reliability, and lower ownership costs among the factors driving consumer interest.
Supporting the brand’s expansion is its growing dealership network, which now numbers 81 locations nationwide. The network spans Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao, bringing BYD sales and after-sales support to more cities and provinces.

BYD Cars Philippines’ latest numbers are difficult to ignore. Surpassing its entire 2025 sales volume with four months still left in the year shows just how quickly demand for electrified vehicles is developing locally. More interesting is that the growth is not coming exclusively from battery-electric models.
The strong performance of the Sealion 6 DM-i and other DM-i vehicles suggests Filipino buyers are increasingly comfortable with plug-in hybrid technology, while BEV sales are also growing at an even faster rate. With 81 dealerships now supporting the brand nationwide, BYD has both the products and expanding retail presence to keep that momentum going.
