BYD Cars Philippines, through its official local distributor ACMobility,  has officially unveiled the BYD Sealion 7, giving Philippine buyers one of the brand’s most technologically advanced and performance-focused electric SUVs yet. Positioned as a premium midsize electric SUV, the Sealion 7 combines high-output electric performance, upscale interior appointments, and an extensive suite of advanced safety technologies as the Chinese brand continues its journey in the fast-growing Philippine EV market.

In more detail, the BYD Sealion 7 is powered by a dual-motor all-wheel-drive setup producing 530 hp and 690 Nm of torque. The electric SUV can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.5 seconds, placing it among the quickest EV crossovers in the local market today. It uses BYD’s Blade Battery technology featuring an 82.6-kWh battery pack.

The company claims a driving range of up to 542 km. Meanwhile, its DC fast charging capability allows the battery to charge from 30 to 80 percent in approximately 30 minutes.

Exterior-wise, the SUV flaunts a smooth, sleek front end, a flowing silhouette, and a rounded rear end — distinct coupe-like visual hallmarks of the brand’s Ocean Aesthetics design philosophy. Detailing it are a pair of sharply designed LED headlights, angular front bumper air vents and garnishes, sculpted profile character lines, a set of 20-inch alloy wheels, and a sleek set of LED tail lights to complete the style.

Looking at the numbers, the SUV measures 4,830 mm long and rides on a generous 2,930 mm wheelbase. This helps maximize cabin space while maintaining a sporty silhouette.

Inside, BYD equips the Sealion 7 with a long list of comfort and technology features to elevate the in-cabin EV experience. The SUV comes with leather seats, ventilated front seats, power seat adjustment, driver memory functions, ambient lighting, dual-zone automatic climate control, and a panoramic glass roof. The Sealion 7 also features a large 15.6-inch rotating infotainment touchscreen paired with a fully digital instrument cluster. It offers wireless smartphone charging, multiple USB charging ports, NFC card key functionality, and a 12-speaker premium sound system.

Practical EV-focused functions were likewise integrated into the vehicle. This is headlined by the Sealion 7’s Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) capability, which allows it to power external devices and appliances directly from the battery pack.

On the safety side, the electric SUV comes equipped with BYD’s DiPilot advanced driver assistance suite. Features include adaptive cruise control, autonomous emergency braking, blind-spot detection, lane keep assist, rear cross traffic alert, traffic sign recognition, and driver monitoring systems.

The BYD Sealion 7 is priced at P2,588,000, available through an all-in downpayment promo of P388,000, with free 1-year comprehensive insurance.

Autocar’s Take

The BYD Sealion 7 solidifies the observation that EVs are rapidly moving beyond being “alternative” options in the Philippines. On paper alone, the combination of 530 hp, premium cabin equipment, advanced safety systems, and competitive EV range makes it look more like a high-end performance SUV than a traditional mainstream EV.

What makes the Sealion 7 especially interesting is how aggressively equipped it is for the segment. With a whale host of features, and backed by ACMobility’s aggressive push to make EV mobility ownership more convenient for Filipinos by expanding its EV charging network nationwide, the Sealion 7 could become one of BYD Philippines’ strongest products yet — especially among buyers looking to transition from premium gasoline crossovers into full EV ownership.
