VinFast has officially unveiled the new VF 8 in its home country in Vietnam. Introducing a wide range of upgrades in design, driving comfort, technology integration, safety, and overall user experience, the electric SUV marks its first major model refresh since VinFast’s transition into a full electric vehicle manufacturing.
Exterior-wise, the new VF 8 was designed under VinFast’s “Tech Fluid” philosophy. As such, it adopts a cleaner and more modern appearance, highlighted by the brand’s signature wing-shaped daytime running lights, a gloss-black grille, and a more aerodynamic profile. The SUV measures 4,701 mm long, 1,872 mm wide, and 1,670 mm high, with a 2,840 mm wheelbase that helps maximize interior room for passengers.
Inside, it receives a more ergonomic layout centered around a 12.9-inch infotainment display that integrates most vehicle controls into a simplified interface. The SUV also gets a secondary driver display, dual-zone automatic climate control, air ionization technology, and an eight-speaker sound system.

According to VinFast, the new VF 8 also benefits from a newly developed chassis platform fitted with frequency selective dampers on both axles. The system automatically adjusts damping characteristics based on road conditions to improve ride comfort while maintaining stability.
Power comes from an electric motor producing 228 hp and 330 Nm of torque, paired with front-wheel drive and selectable Eco, Normal, and Sport driving modes. The vehicle uses a 60.13 kWh battery pack delivering up to 500 km of range. Fast charging capability allows the battery to charge from 10% to 70% in under 30 minutes.
One of the major highlights of the new VF 8 is its integrated thermal management system. The technology manages battery, motor, electrical, and cabin temperatures simultaneously to help improve efficiency, charging performance, and long-term durability. Safety features include a full advanced driver assistance system (ADAS) suite with adaptive cruise control, lane keeping assist, blind spot Warning, highway assist, and a 360-degree camera system. VinFast said the vehicle was developed with ASEAN NCAP 5-star safety standards in mind.
Pre-orders for the new-generation VF 8 in Vietnam will begin on May 27, 2026, with first deliveries expected by late July. As for the possibility of a local rollout, VinFast Philippines has yet to make an official statement. Although the company’s move for the VF 8 is one to watch as it will join this year’s Philippine International Auto Show (PIMS). Who knows what kind of surprises it has in store.

Autocar’s Take
The updated VF 8 shows how quickly VinFast is evolving from a startup automaker into a serious player in the global EV space. Instead of focusing purely on styling or headline figures, the company is investing heavily in user experience, ride comfort, software integration, and thermal efficiency — areas that matter in real-world ownership.
Added features like the integrated thermal management system and frequency selective dampers tell a more mature approach to vehicle development. While competition in the EV segment remains intense, the VF 8’s latest upgrades indicate that VinFast is steadily building a more refined and competitive electric SUV.
Only time, market demand, and company business direction will tell if the VF 8 will land here in the Philippines. But from the way things are shaping up in the local EV space, its Philippine entry is highly likely.
