Road Reality Check: Falken backs tires where it matters

Falken Tire Philippines is putting a sharper focus on real-world durability with the rollout of its new Road Hazard Ready (RHR) warranty—an added layer of protection that acknowledges a simple truth: most tire failures don’t come from factory defects, but from what drivers encounter on the road.

Launched through exclusive distributor JM Far East, Inc., the program covers eligible passenger, SUV/4×4, and van/light truck (PLT) tires purchased starting April 20, 2026. It’s designed to address the kind of unrepairable damage that drivers eventually face—deep punctures, sidewall cuts, and impact damage from potholes and uneven surfaces. Runflat damage may also be considered, subject to inspection.

If the tire meets the criteria, Falken provides a one-to-one replacement using the same model or the closest equivalent available. Coverage runs for up to 12 months from the date of purchase or until tread depth reaches 5mm, whichever comes first.

The program applies to brand-new tires distributed locally by JM Far East and purchased through authorized dealers or official online channels. A minimum of two tires must be purchased in a single transaction, with matching size and vehicle application. Covered product lines include Sincera, Ziex, Azenis FK510 series, Azenis FK520L, Wildpeak, and Linam. Track-oriented models such as the Azenis RT660 and RT615K+ are excluded.

Activation requires registration within seven days of purchase via the official RHR portal, including submission of purchase documents, tire details, and supporting photos. Miss the deadline, and the coverage reverts to Falken’s standard five-year warranty against manufacturing defects.

Eligibility is also tied to the tire’s production date. Units manufactured between 2017 and 2026 qualify, with newer tires (up to six years old) receiving one year of RHR alongside standard warranty coverage, followed by defect-only protection up to five years. Older tires—between seven to nine years—are limited to a one-year combined coverage period.

As expected, exclusions are clearly defined. Repairable punctures, cosmetic damage, misuse, racing, off-road abuse, improper maintenance, and normal wear and tear are not covered. The same goes for damage caused by floods, fire, or collisions, as well as tires used in taxis, rental fleets, original equipment fitments, and spares.

Claims are processed online, supported by photo and video documentation, followed by a live inspection via video call. Approval typically takes two to four business days, with replacement availability depending on location—at least five days in NCR, seven in Luzon, and up to 14 days in Visayas and Mindanao.

In a market where road conditions remain unpredictable, Falken’s RHR program isn’t about expanding warranty terms—it’s about aligning them with everyday use.
