Chinese automaker Jetour, through its official local distributor United Asia Automotive Group, Inc. (UAAGI), is pushing into the premium bracket of the Philippine market with the introduction of its new flagship. Presenting the Jetour G700. Also known as the Jetour Gaia G700, it is a full-size plug-in hybrid SUV that blends luxury, performance, and off-road capability.

As the brand’s flagship model, the G700 arrives with a sticker price of P4.488 million, signaling a change in direction for Jetour. Known locally for its value-oriented crossovers, the company is now testing more premium territory with a model to compete with established large SUVs in the local market, such as the Ford Bronco and the Jeep Wrangler.

Under the hood is a sophisticated plug-in hybrid system pairing a 2.0-liter turbocharged gasoline engine with dual electric motors and a 34.1 kWh battery. The system produces as much as 904 hp and 1,135 Nm of torque. The combined output is substantial, delivering figures that place the G700 firmly in performance SUV territory.

Despite its large footprint, the G700 is capable of accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in around 4.6 seconds, with a top speed of approximately 180 km/h in full electric mode. Pure electric driving can reach up to 100 km, while total combined range is rated at close to 1,400 km under ideal conditions.

Beyond performance, the G700 is engineered with off-road use in mind. It adopts a body-on-frame construction, a key feature for durability in rough terrain. Multiple drive modes, advanced four-wheel-drive systems, and terrain management functions aim to give it genuine capability beyond paved roads, appealing to buyers who want both luxury and adventure readiness in a single package.

Inside, the cabin reflects its flagship status. It boasts a tech-forward layout dominated by large digital displays, alongside premium materials and a focus on passenger comfort. Advanced driver assistance systems are also part of the package, aligning the G700 with modern expectations in safety and convenience.

The arrival of the G700 highlights a growing trend among Chinese brands expanding their reach into higher segments. Instead of competing solely on affordability, models like the Jetour Gaia G700 emphasize technology, performance, and design as key selling points.

Autocar’s Take

Jetour’s move to introduce the G700 at P4.488 million is a bold attempt backed by real ambition. This is no longer a brand content with competing on value alone. By stepping into the premium SUV space with a powerful plug-in hybrid and genuine off-road credentials, Jetour is testing how far its name can stretch in the Philippine market.

The numbers are impressive, but the real challenge lies in shaping buyer perception and establishing trust in a higher price bracket. The G700 ultimately stands as a statement vehicle, one that reflects the brand’s intent to be taken more seriously in the upper tiers.
