VinFast shared that it has recorded 3,520 electric vehicle (EV) orders in just one day in its home country, Vietnam. The Vietnamese EV maker said that the significant EV orders are brought about by how ecosystem-building can turn interest into action without the usual triggers seen in the automotive industry.

VinFast said that it was able to fully process a total of 3,520 EV orders, which were all placed on March 28, 2026. The automaker noted that the total EV orders it received on March 28 were not a glitch, and claims that it actually happened, which shows the high demand for VinFast EVs in Vietnam. VinFast clarified that the “March 28 result stands apart because it was not engineered, or at least not in a way that compressed demand into a short, highly managed timeframe.”

The EV orders reportedly came in steadily throughout the day rather than clustering around a specific time window. As such, VinFast recorded an average of EV orders of around 146 vehicles per hour, or about 2.4 vehicles per minute. The Vietnamese automaker added that all EV orders had been processed by the end of March 28, and the EVs were ready to leave its factory.

VinFast mentioned that the spike in global fuel prices could have prompted the notable EV orders it recorded on March 28. But the automaker believes that it’s more than just the rising fuel prices that contributed to the EV orders. VinFast said that it shows how effective its groundwork has been in Vietnam: “When the groundwork has been laid consistently over time, results tend to appear less as isolated spikes and more as the natural outcome of accumulated effort.”

In Vietnam, that groundwork has been built by VinFast over several years through a combination of charging infrastructure expansion, dense service coverage, and enticing ownership policies. This strategy is also what VinFast Philippines is implementing in the market, as it has been working to establish the conditions that allow EV adoption to scale over time.

Among the initiatives that VinFast PH has introduced is the Battery Subscription Program, designed to lower the cost of EV ownership and make EVs more accessible to Filipinos. Under the program, the battery is treated as a leased component rather than a part of the vehicle’s initial purchase price. Buyers pay a monthly fee for access to the battery, with the fee varying based on typical monthly driving distance.

VinFast PH is also offering an extended free EV charging program designed to reduce the cost of ownership. The program covers free EV charging at VinFast’s V-Green charging stations until March 31, 2029, and applies to both new and existing VinFast customers.

Autocar’s Take

VinFast’s significant EV orders on March 28 is a testament that consumers can consider shifting into owning an EV as long as there are enticing incentives coupled with the continuous expansion of EV charging infrastructure. VinFast Vietnam is also proud of how its groundwork has resulted in positive results, and it plans to continue doing so and further improve its strategy.

In the Philippines, VinFast is also doing a similar strategy, as it introduced several initiatives that are aimed at attracting EV buyers. Among the things that VinFast PH is doing is the Battery Subscription Program, as well as the extended free EV charging until March 2029.
