Nissan’s e-Power technology was able to bag a Guinness World Record after completing the longest journey achieved by a non-plug-in extended-range hybrid vehicle. This is after the Nissan Qashqai equipped with next-generation e-Power delivered a record-setting drive.
The Nissan e-Power tech managed to cover 1,980 kilometers of driving range on a single full tank. The record-setting drive took place in Colombia, travelling from Bogotá to the Caribbean coast. Nissan shared that the three-day drive featured a wide variety of road, traffic, and driving conditions. Every stage of the attempt was independently monitored and verified by Guinness World Records judges, who certified the achievement following a detailed review process.
To put things in perspective, the next-gen Nissan e-Power’s 1,980 km driving range record translates to something like having the capability to do seven trips from Bonifacio Global City (BGC) to Burnham Park in Baguio, which typically covers 260 km. With the Nissan e-Power’s Guinness Record, it could easily make several trips from BGC to Baguio by just using one full tank of gas, and without having the need to plug in the vehicle to charge its electric motor.
As a review, Nissan e-Power vehicles are driven exclusively by an electric motor. The gasoline engine, on the other hand, acts as a generator that charges the e-Power’s electric motor when needed. This eliminates the need for external charging while maintaining the convenience and flexibility of a conventional vehicle.
