Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corporation (MMPC) has achieved a major international milestone by winning the Service Advisor category at the 2025 Global Service Skills Contest (GSSC) held in Tokyo, Japan. Representing the Philippines, Raymond Rivera of Carworld, Inc. came out on top, outperforming 15 other contenders from various regions.
The GSSC is a global competition organized by Mitsubishi Motors Corporation that brings together top-performing service professionals from its worldwide distributor network. Rivera earned his place after winning the Service Advisor category at MMPC’s Mitsubishi Skills Olympics in January 2025, followed by months of intensive preparation that started in July. He excelled through the training under the guidance of MMPC Non-Technical Training Senior Supervisor Allan Veraque Jr.
The international competition is designed to evaluate both technical competence and customer-handling skills. The first segment consists of written and analytical assessments, including matching-type examinations and essay-based responses to realistic customer scenarios. These scenarios incorporate customer profiles, preventive maintenance requirements, vehicle condition, and lifestyle considerations to reflect real-world service environments.

The second segment involves a comprehensive role-play exercise simulating the full-service advisor process, from pre-delivery inspection to vehicle handover. Participants are assessed on their ability to explain completed services, review repair orders and billing, conduct proper vehicle walkarounds, and provide safety reminders, maintenance schedules, and follow-up guidance.
“This win reflects the strength of our people and our commitment to customer-first service. With Raymond’s performance, he showed to the world that when technical excellence is combined with genuine care for the customer, Filipino service professionals can truly excel on the global stage,” shared MMPC Aftersales Executive Vice President Toko Imai as he expressed his pride over the victory that is touted as an inspiration for future Filipino service professionals to be the best they can be in their chosen field.
Rivera’s achievement reinforces MMPC’s commitment to developing globally competitive Filipino service professionals and enhancing customer experience across its nationwide dealer network.
Autocar’s Take
This win highlights an often-overlooked aspect of automotive competitiveness – after-sales service. MMPC’s success shows that sustained investment in training can translate into measurable goal recognition.
Beyond individual achievement, Rivera’s victory is a testament to structured preparation and consistent coaching. It also shows that strong service advisory skills can be as impactful as new product launches by helping cultivate brand trust and long-term customer loyalty.
