Great Wall Motor (GWM) has once again claimed the top position in China’s pickup truck market, making its 28th consecutive year as the region’s best-selling pickup truck brand. The company reported strong global performance for its pickup division in 2025, driven by robust sales in both its domestic and overseas markets.

According to GWM, it sold 181,660 pickup trucks worldwide in 2025. In China, one of the world’s strongest automotive markets, the company accounted for nearly 50% of the pickup segment, meaning that one in every two pickups sold in China carried a GWM badge last year.

GWM’s international markets also grew, reaching 63,784 units. That’s a 17% increase vs. the same period in 2024, which positions the company as the leading Chinese pickup brand by export volume. Among the brand’s consistent overseas market performers is the Philippines, where it managed to post notable sales performances and consistent nationwide dealer network expansions last year. In Australia, the GWM Cannon recorded significant gains, with total pickup sales up by 30%.

GWM’s continued market leadership reflects sustained demand for its pickup lineup, which includes the Cannon and other models tailored for both commercial and lifestyle use. To date, the company has expanded its global footprint to more than 60 countries with particularly strong momentum in regions such as Australia, South Africa, and Chile.

Beyond sales, GWM’s pickup business has emphasized community engagement and brand culture at home. Among its community-focused activities include engaging in GWM car clubs, experiential events, and safety-focused training programs. These are designed to deepen customer connection and promote pickup culture within China.

Industry experts view GWM’s performance as part of a broader trend of Chinese automakers growing their share of both domestic and global automotive markets, particularly in utility and high commercial segments where value-oriented products have gained traction in recent years.
