Kia has revealed its newest battery-electric vehicle (BEV), the Kia EV2, at the 2026 Brussels Motor Show, making the global premiere of a small electric SUV aimed at broadening access to electrified mobility. The EV2 is Kia’s most compact purpose-built electric vehicle (EV) today, designed to offer practicality, usability, and modern electric performance for the urban lifestyle.

Unveiled under the theme “The Power of Firsts,” the EV2 is the representation of Kia’s strategy to establish a clear entry point to its brand, most particularly its EV lineup. As such, the EV2 targets first-time car buyers and those seeking a primary family car that delivers a spacious interior and an engaging driving experience.

Design, space, and tech

The EV2 is developed around the Korean car brand’s “Opposites United” design philosophy, showcasing a confident SUV stance with a compact footprint. Aesthetic features include vertical lighting elements and Kia’s signature Star Map lighting, which together create a distinctive exterior design.

Inside, the EV2 offers a flexible, calm, and welcoming cabin ambiance, complemented by ergonomic storage solutions tailored for daily use. The interior also comes with a panoramic display, combining digital driver instrument and infotainment screens, while horizontal cabin cues enhance the sense of spaciousness.

Everyday convenience is enhanced through a comprehensive suite of technology and comfort features, including a personalized digital interface powered by the latest Kia AI Assistant for a more intuitive in-car experience. Kia also installed the Digilat Key 2 and over-the-air (OTA) software update for seamless access and up-to-date vehicle functions. A premium audio system paired with a 100W USB-C charging port is also present, as is the dedicated Pet Mode, which keeps pets safe and comfortable inside when the vehicle is parked.

Performance and safety

The Kia EV2 is engineered for urban efficiency and responsiveness. Kia says that it will be available with two battery options – a 42.2 kWh standard-range pack and a 61.0 kWh long-range unit, delivering estimated driving ranges up to 317 km and 448 km, respectively. Its fast charging capability allows DC charging from 10% to 80% in under 30 minutes. For flexible daily use, Kia also made the EV2 capable of supporting 11 KW or 22 KW AC chargers.

For peace of mind on the road, the Kia EV2 comes with a range of technologies under its advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS). These include forward collision avoidance, advanced lane-keeping systems, and remote smart parking assist. Additional features such as EV route planner, plug and charge, and bidirectional vehicle-to-load (V2L/V2G) enhance convenience and utility.
