As a result of continued cycles of typhoons Crising, Dante, and Emong that intensified the southwest monsoon or ”habagat” over the last few weeks, many areas in Metro Manila and parts of Luzon have been submerged in flood water. The storm surge left thousands of families in ruin, particularly in areas along expressways.
A number of concerned organizations have organized their own relief efforts to help out. One of these is MPT South, a Metro Pacific Tollways Corporation (MPTC) subsidiary. The company understood the urgency of the situation. It mobilized its team, gathered resources, and coordinated with local government units or LGUs for assistance along its areas of operation, particularly along the Manila-Cavite Expressway (CAVITEX) and Cavite-Laguna Expressway (CALAX).
MPT South says that it distributed a total of 3,000 packs of relief goods to displaced families. In addition, it mentioned its plan to extend aid to affected public utility vehicle (PUV) drivers and operators whose businesses have been hampered by destroyed or flooded roads.

Elnora D. Rumawak, Officer-In-Charge of MPT South, shared, “We understand the hardships that our communities are facing, and we are here to help ease their burden.” The officer’s statement is underscored by MPT South’s continued efforts to extend aid to more families, coordinate with more LGUs to determine additional affected areas, and monitor the situation in the coming days.
MPT South’s recent relief efforts are part of its commitment to serve the people. As its corporate social responsibility, it’s ready to take action, helping the communities in its areas by way of swift disaster response and solid collaboration with LGUs, especially in these trying times.
