The local government unit (LGU) of Bataan has strengthened its emergency response and public service capabilities with the turnover of seven Radar RD6 Econ 4WD full-electric pickup truck units. The move strengthens the LGU’s commitment to future-proofing its governance by adopting electric vehicles (EVs) as its frontline mobile units.
The turnover ceremony was held last January 19 at the 1Bataan Command Center in Orani, Bataan. There, provincial and municipal officials, as well as representatives from the United Asia Automotive Group, Inc. (UAAG), the official local distributor of Radar EV pickups, were present to officialize the partnership.
In more detail, the Radar EV pickups will be deployed across various provincial operations, with a primary focus on emergency response, disaster preparedness, environmental protection, and on-ground public service. Officials noted that adopting EVs supports Bataan’s goal of reducing carbon emissions while improving fleet efficiency and operational reliability, particularly during critical situations.

At the ceremony, Metro Bataan Development Authority (MBDA) General Manager Bong Pizarro went on to say, “The addition of these Radar RD6 electric pickups reflects our commitment to modern, efficient, and environmentally responsible governance. These vehicles will strengthen our capability to respond quickly and effectively to the needs of our constituents, especially during emergencies and critical operations.”
Powered by a 73KWh battery and equipped with a 4WD system, the Radar RD6 Econ delivers up to 381 hp and 485 Nm of torque, enabling it to operate across varied terrain. It offers a payload capability of up to 1 ton, a spacious cargo bed, and a reinforced unibody structure made with high-strength steel, making it suitable for daily utility use and emergency deployments.
Radar says that the RD6 Econ 4WD units deployed in Bataan are backed by a 5-year or 150,000 km bumper-to-bumper warranty and an 8-year or 200,000 km warranty for the high-voltage battery. On top of these, the units are supported by UAAGI’s nationwide dealer network.
Radar EV Pickup Philippines Brand Head Franz Decloedt, the company is committed to supporting government partners as they transition to electrified mobility, demonstrating that electrification and public service can move forward together.
Autocar’s Take
Bataan’s adoption of electric pickup trucks for emergency and public service use highlights a practical approach to the LGU’s mission to improve its services. Disaster response vehicles are expected to operate continuously and reliably, often under demanding conditions, making efficiency and durability critical.
By investing in EV pickups designed for utility work, the LGU shows that electrification is no longer limited to private use or light-duty roles. By setting itself as an example of advancing its public service portfolio for the future, Bataan’s adoption of EVs could encourage other LGUs to follow its footsteps. This move positions Bataan not just as an environmental advocate but as an LGU willing to modernize essential services.
