The first quarter of 2026 did not go as smoothly as everyone had hoped. Due to the geopolitical  tensions happening in the Middle East, global oil prices have started to reach high and uncomfortable levels, leading to rising fuel prices in many regions worldwide. The Philippines is among the regions affected by this.

In an effort to address the concern, Vietnamese electric vehicle (EV) brand VinFast has announced a new incentive aimed at easing the burden of high fuel prices on Filipino motorists. This new initiative offers free and unlimited EV charging at its authorized V-Green charging stations nationwide.

According to VinFast Philippines, the program will allow both existing and future VinFast EV owners to recharge their cars at their nearest V-Green charging station for free and for as many times as needed until March 31, 2029. It added that the charging cost will be fully covered by Vingroup, VinFast Philippines’ parent company.

VinFest Philippines said the move comes as many Filipino drivers continue to face higher transport expenses due to volatile global oil prices and supply concerns. By removing the cost of charging, the company hopes that more motorists will consider switching to electric mobility, which it claims to offer typically lower operating expenses than conventional internal combustion engine (ICE)-powered vehicles.

The company explained that the initiative is intended to make EV mobility more accessible by helping households and businesses manage daily transportation costs. It added that reducing one of the biggest operating expenses of vehicle ownership could allow drivers to experience the long-term benefits of EVs more clearly.

VinFast described the move as part of its goal to support the country’s transition to adopt a cleaner and future-forward means of mobility. It believes that the future of mobility should not only focus on sustainability, but also on delivering real economic benefits for the people who depend on their vehicles every day. The free and unlimited charging program, it said, is designed to make that vision more practical for drivers nationwide, and it all starts this year.

Autocar’s Take

VinFast Philippines’ initiative to offer free, unlimited EV charging for its vehicle owners until 2029 is something that directly addresses one of the biggest concerns in vehicle ownership today: the rising costs of fuel. For many drivers, the shift to EVs has always been about long-term savings, but uncertainty about charging costs can slow adoption.

By removing that expense entirely, at least up until the end of the program period, VinFast is making the EV proposition easier to understand by more Filipino drivers. It is not just about long-term viability anymore, but about everyday economics. If V-Green grows alongside this incentive, the offer could become a meaningful push that may help normalize EV mobility in the Philippines.
