Nissan Philippines opened 2026 on a steady note. The Japanese automaker recently announced that its Q1 2026 sales performance yielded a total of 4,634 units while maintaining its position as the country’s fourth best-selling car brand. The result shows a consistent demand across its core vehicle lineup, particularly in pickups, SUVs, and family-oriented models.

Leading the charge is the Nissan Navara pickup truck, which recorded 1,268 units sold, followed closely by the Nissan Terra SUV at 1,250 units. The Nissan Livina MPV also delivered solid numbers with 746 units sold since the start of 2026. Upon observation, these models continue to resonate with Filipino buyers who prioritize durability, space, and practicality in their daily drives.

Aside from its volume drivers, Nissan also saw notable sales growth in its more premium-oriented models, primarily the Nissan Patrol and the Nissan Z. The Patrol registered a significant 270% year-on-year increase with 322 units sold. On the other hand, the Z posted an even sharper 808% growth, reaching 109 units. These figures highlight a growing appetite for more aspirational vehicles within the market.

Electrification remains part of Nissan’s local brand push, with the Kicks e-Power showing encouraging traction. The model closed Q1 2026 with a 171% month-on-month increase in March, suggesting increasing acceptance of electrified mobility among Filipino consumers.

While the realities of today’s local auto industry is marked with challenges such as rising fuel costs, Nissan’s performance remained resilient, supported by a balanced product lineup and sustained customer confidence. The company continues to invest in widening its local market reach, with new dealerships now operational in Calamba, Laguna and San Jose del Monte, Bulacan. These dealerships will soon be joined by an upcoming facility in Santa Rosa, Laguna.

Moving forward, Nissan Philippines is gearing up to introduce more electrified models as part of its evolving portfolio. These upcoming launches aim to offer customers a wider range of choices that blend efficiency, performance, and everyday usability.

Autocar’s Take

Nissan Philippines’ latest numbers tell a familiar story, but the details reveal something more nuanced. While volume still leans heavily on pickups and SUVs, the sharp rise of models like the Patrol and the Z hints at a market regaining confidence in discretionary spending. More interesting is the Kicks e-Power’s growth, suggesting that electrification is no longer just a talking point but a developing habit among buyers.

At this point, it all boils down to consistency. Momentum is one thing; sustaining it across shifting fuel prices and evolving expectations will make a huge difference that will define whether this early performance becomes a turning point or just another stable quarter.
