Vietnamese company Vingroup, which includes subsidiaries such as VinFast, V-Green, VinEnergo, and Green GSM, announced that it has donated more than P50 million to support local authorities and communities affected by the earthquake that struck Mindanao on June 8, 2026.

Vingroup’s emergency relief program intends to contribute to the disaster recovery efforts, as well as help the affected communities restore normal life as quickly as possible. The magnitude 7.8 earthquake that struck offshore Mindanao on June 8, 2026, caused extensive damage across several areas in Southern Philippines, particularly in the SOCCSKSARGEN and Davao regions.

Reports state that as of June 10, 2026, the disaster had claimed at least 45 lives, injured hundreds of people, left many missing, and forced more than 25,000 residents to evacuate. The earthquake also caused severe damage to homes, schools, roads, bridges, and public infrastructure, resulting in significant economic and social disruption across affected communities.

Under Vingroup’s emergency relief program, General Santos City and Sarangani Province in the SOCCSKSARGEN Region each received P20 million, while Davao Occidental Province in the Davao Region also received P10 million to support recovery and community rehabilitation efforts.

Vingroup also offered direct support to families who lost loved ones due to the disaster by providing financial assistance of P100,000 for each fatality. The company said that this initiative is a gesture of solidarity and compassion during this difficult time.

Representing the participating companies, Dao Quy Phi, Director of Investment and External Relations of Vingroup in the Philippines, said: “The losses suffered by the people of Mindanao as a result of this earthquake are immense. During challenging times like these, we believe that the collective efforts of businesses and communities can help provide additional resources, hope, and encouragement for those affected.

“As Vietnamese companies with long-term investments and operations in the Philippines, we are committed to standing alongside local authorities and communities in the recovery process, supporting efforts to rebuild lives and strengthen affected communities,” Dao Quy Phi added.

Autocar’s Take

Vingroup, the parent company of VinFast, V-Green, VinEnergo, and Green GSM, has provided emergency relief to the communities and families affected by the earthquake that struck Mindanao on June 8, 2026. This is a nice gesture from the Vietnamese company, as it shows compassion to the victims of the devastating earthquake.

This is not the first time that Vingroup has donated to help the quake-hit communities. As a review, Green GSM has donated P3 million to the Cebu Archdiocesan Commission for the Cultural Heritage of the Church (CACCHC) to help restore the 140-year-old Archdiocesan Shrine of Santa Rosa de Lima, which has been damaged during the 6.9-magnitude earthquake that struck the province last September 30, 2025.
