Japanese carmaker, Mitsubishi, recently announced another milestone for the Desinator. The 7-seat SUV has been awarded two prestigious titles at the 2025 FORWOT (Forum Wartawan Otomotif) Car of the Year Awards in Indonesia. The organization, composed of esteemed Indonesian motoring journalists, gave the Destinator the “Best of the Best,” and the category award for “Best Internal Combustion Engine (ICE),” with the former being the highest accolade.

The Destinator’s recognitions mark a significant achievement for the brand, as it becomes the third Mitsubishi model to receive the Best of the Best award, following the Mitsubishi Montero Sport in 2016 and the Mitsubishi Xpander in 2018. The Indonesian recognitions also add to the Destinator’s portfolio of awards, following its recent achievement as this year’s Best Industrial Product Design title at the VMARK Vietnam Design Awards.

Designed with a  focus on family usability and comfort, the Mitsubishi Destinator was developed under the product concept of being a “confidence booster for energetic families.” According to Mitsubishi, the Destinator blends refined SUV styling with a premium, spacious interior, along with dynamic performance and reliable handling in a variety of road and weather conditions.

Atsushi Kurita, President Director of PT Mitsubishi Motors Krama Yudha Sales Indonesia (MMKSI), shared his thoughts regarding the achievement, noting the significance of winning such honors as the brand celebrates its 55th year of operations in Indonesia. Kurita went on to say, “Since its debut, the all-new Destinator has been warmly embraced by many customers for its sophisticated design, refined comfort, comprehensive safety features, and adventurous spirit. We remain dedicated to supporting our customers’ needs and delivering smart, sustainable mobility solutions for the future.”

Mitsubishi says the Indonesian market response for the Destinator has been notable. Since its debut in the region in July 2025, it has exceeded its initial sales target for the fiscal year, securing approximately 14,000 orders in just five months. The model has also gained traction in other Southeast Asian markets. In the Philippines, it recorded around 1,500 orders following its November 20, 2025 launch. Meanwhile, it achieved over 3,700 orders in Vietnam within two weeks after its December 1, 2025 debut in that region.
