MG Philippines has launched the MG S5 EV. The compact all-electric SUV arrives as a centerpiece to the brand’s 2026 edition of the Multiply Greatness Tour, Formerly called the MG New Energy Tour, a roving showcase featuring MG’s latest electrified models, technologies, and event-exclusive promos.
The MG S5 EV is powered by a permanent magnet synchronous electric motor producing 170 hp and 250 Nm of torque. The company is particularly proud to highlight the model’s rear-wheel-drive layout, setting it apart in the compact EV space for its sportier driving dynamics.
Meanwhile five drive modes, Normal, Sport, Comfort, Snow, and Custom, give drivers more flexibility depending on conditions and preferences.
Energy comes from a 49 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery, with support for up to 120 kW DC fast charging. MG says the battery can go from 10% to 90% charge in approximately 24 minutes under suitable conditions.
AC charging is also supported, while scheduled charging, battery thermal optimization, regenerative braking with four settings, and One-Pedal Drive add useful tools for daily EV use.
The S5 EV also brings practical SUV credentials. It measures 4,476 mm long, 1,849 mm wide, and 1,621 mm high, riding on a 2,730-mm wheelbase. Cargo capacity stands at 453 liters and expands to 1,441 liters with the rear seats folded and underfloor storage included.
Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) capability further allows the battery to power compatible external devices, a feature that is useful in outdoor activities or when electric power at home is compromised.
Inside, the S5 EV gets a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster and 12.8-inch touchscreen, with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Automatic climate control, smart entry, multiple USB ports, 60:40 split-folding rear seats, and a PM2.5 cabin filter round out the equipment.
Moreover, MG Philippines emphasized the S5 EV’s interior ergonomics and design, particularly its increased number of physical buttons, bringing back a driving experience many enthusiatst are longing for since the advent of touch screen systems.
Safety is another major part of the package. MG Pilot includes features such as forward collision warning, autonomous emergency braking with pedestrian and cyclist detection, lane keeping assist, blind spot detection, rear cross traffic alert and braking, adaptive cruise control, traffic jam Assist, and driver monitoring. The S5 EV also has seven airbags and has received five-star safety ratings from both EURO NCAP and ANCAP.
The MG S5 EV is priced at P1,448,888, with an introductory price of P1,408,888. Customers who reserve with a minimum P1,000 fee during the Multiply Greatness Tour at Trinoma from August 27 to 30 can get a P10,000 discount, bringing the price to P1,398,888.
The package also includes P30,000 worth of charging equipment, consisting of a 7-kW wall charger and 3.3-kW portable charger.
The Multiply Greatness Tour opened at Trinoma Activity Center will travel to Pampanga, Laguna, and Cebu. Visitors can see MG’s latest models and test drive the S5 EV, MG4 Urban EV, MG RX9 PHEV, MG HS PHEV, and MG G50 PHEV, with event giveaways also available.

The MG S5 EV looks like a sensible addition to MG’s electrified lineup, particularly because it does not treat being electric as its only selling point. Rear-wheel drive gives it an interesting edge, while the 415-km NEDC range, practical cargo capacity, fast charging, and V2L capability make it easier to imagine as an everyday vehicle.
The introductory price also puts plenty of equipment into the conversation. What matters now is how the S5 EV performs on Philippine roads and how accessible charging becomes outside major cities. The Multiply Greatness Tour is a smart way to let potential buyers experience the brand firsthand.
