Geely Auto Group is taking electric vehicle charging beyond speed, introducing an artificial intelligence-powered system designed to manage battery temperatures, improve charging efficiency and support long-term battery health.
Unveiled globally on September 23, 2026, Geely Smart Charging uses Xingrui PowerMind, an AI energy model developed jointly by Geely Auto Group and AI company StepFun. The system coordinates the vehicle, battery, charging station, cloud services, power grid and energy storage to optimize the charging process.
One of its key features is the ability to predict battery temperature up to 30 seconds ahead, allowing the system to adjust power delivery before excessive heat develops. Geely says its technology aims to keep average battery charging temperatures below 55 C and peak temperatures below 65 C.
A five-point liquid-cooling system also manages heat throughout the charging chain, covering the charging station’s energy storage battery, charging equipment, cable, vehicle charging port and battery pack. This approach could be particularly relevant in tropical markets such as the Philippines, where high ambient temperatures add to the challenges of managing battery heat.

Geely is also addressing battery longevity through its Lithium-ion Pulse Restoration Technology. The system uses micro-pulse currents to help reactivate lithium ions that accumulate at the negative electrode during repeated fast charging. According to the company, combining this technology with AI-based charging management can increase battery cycle life by up to 20 percent.
The system can adjust charging current, cooling intensity and charging duration according to battery condition. A separate low-rate charging strategy for home charging is intended to help reduce degradation associated with repeated fast charging.
On the performance front, Geely’s fifth-generation Smart Charging Station supports peak output of up to 2,250 KW, while its Shendun Golden Battery supports charging rates of up to 12C. In testing, batteries in the Lynk & Co 10 and Zeekr 001 charged from 10% to 70% in four minutes and 30 seconds, and from 10% to 97% in eight minutes and 40 seconds.
Geely has also introduced a next-generation ultra-short blade battery that uses laser-welding technology to reduce charging-related heat generation by 10%, while supporting peak charging rates of up to 6C.
For the Philippine market, the development provides a glimpse of Geely’s future electrification plans, which currently include the EX2, EX5 and EX5 EM-i Super Hybrid. However, the new technology does not mean these local models support the full 2,250-kW charging capability.

Autocar’s Take
Geely Smart Charging highlights an important part of EV ownership that often gets overlooked: charging is not just about how quickly a battery fills up. Heat management, battery longevity and charging efficiency matter just as much, particularly in a country like the Philippines. The promise of extending battery cycle life by up to 20 percent is worth watching, although real-world performance over years of use will ultimately determine its value.
The technology is impressive, but its immediate relevance to Filipino buyers remains limited until compatible vehicles and charging infrastructure become available locally. For now, Geely‘s AI-powered EV charging offers an interesting look at where EV technology is heading.
