Omoda & Jaecoo Motor Philippines Inc. (OJPH) has confirmed that it will soon introduce the Jaecoo J5 hybrid electric vehicle (HEV) to the local market. This marks Jaecoo’s first HEV model in the country to complete its new-energy vehicle (NEV) lineup. The J5 HEV’s local entry serves as a key milestone for the company as it expands its local electrified mobility solutions.

The decision to bring in the Jaecoo J5 HEV is based on the model’s strong regional performance across Southeast Asia. In Thailand, the J5 HEV recorded a “double championship” in November 2025, topping both sales and registrations within its segment. In Indonesia, the J5 HEV generated more than 10,000 orders within its first month of sale, making it one of the fastest-selling new models in its category. OJPH aims to build on this momentum in the local market, as Filipinos are beginning to trust and have confidence in hybrid electric vehicle technology.

With the introduction of the J5 HEV, Jaecoo now offers a full NEV range locally. As it arrives, the J5 HEV will join the brand’s other electrified models, including the Jaecoo EJ6 off-road full-electric SUV and the Jaecoo J7 SHS plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV). Omoda & Jaecoo says that the J5 HEV is targeted at customers seeking improved fuel efficiency and an electrified driving experience without the need for external charging infrastructure, addressing a key concern among first-time hybrid buyers.

From a technical standpoint, the Jaecoo J5 HEV is claimed to deliver a combined fuel consumption figure of 5.3 liters/100 km and a claimed electric driving range of more than 1,000 km, supporting long-distance travel without frequent fuel stops. Combined power output is rated at 221 hp and 295 Nm of torque. Ride comfort is further enhanced by a 4-link rear suspension, a feature uncommon in entry-level SUV segments.

Beyond performance, the Jaecoo J5 HEV is pegged as a lifestyle-oriented vehicle. It features a TÜV SÜD-certified pet-friendly interior, utilizing antibacterial and scratch-resistant materials for easier cleaning and maintenance. The vehicle also supports optional pet-focused accessories, including boarding steps, feeding systems, and trunk barriers, highlighting its family- and pet-friendly design.

Of note, Omoda & Jaecoo Philippines has not yet made an announcement of the Jaecoo J5 HEV’s exact launch date and final local specs. But from the way things in the industry are shaping up, it won’t be long until it arrives.

Autocar’s Take

To us, the Jaecoo J5 HEV feels well-suited to the Philippine lifestyle, where cars often play multifaceted roles such as family transport, weekend getaway vehicles, and shared mobility for the furbabies. In a market dominated by compact SUVs, its hybrid powertrain addresses growing concerns over fuel costs without stressing over looking for the nearest charging station enroute or installing one at home.

What sets the Jaecoo J5 HEV, however, is its thoughtful pet-friendly design. The non-toxic and TÜV SÜD-certified interior materials, combined with scratch-proof and antibacterial surfaces, are designed and manufactured with real-world use in mind. Whether it’s city cruising or long journeys, the “good boys and good girls” will be safe and happy, much to the owners’ delight and peace of mind.
