Hyundai Motor Philippines Inc. (HMPH) has turned over two Elantra units to boost the Philippine National Police’s patrol fleet. The Korean car brand formally handed over the two Hyundai Elantra units to the Philippine National Police (PNP) in a ceremonial turnover attended by key individuals from the PNP and Hyundai Philippines.
The ceremonial turnover was attended by Acting Chief, PNP PGEN Jose Melencio C. Nartatez, The Director for Logistics PMGEN Martin E. Defensor Jr., Deputy Director for Logistics PBGEN Roel C. Rodolfo, members of the PNP Command Group, and other honored guests.
Representing Hyundai were HMPH President Jiho Son and HMPH Managing Director Cecil Capacete. Hyundai PH said that the Hyundai Elantra units are intended to reaffirm its support for the PNP’s initiative to enhance public safety and national security. As a review, HMPH previously handed over Stargazer units to the PNP.

“These Elantra Patrol Cars are purpose-built to support the PNP’s vital mission of protecting the nation. This handover reflects Hyundai’s belief that mobility should evolve with the needs of modern law enforcement. Hyundai is privileged to stand with the PNP as a partner in building safer and more progressive communities,” said HMPH President Jiho Son.
HMPH shared that the units turned over to the PNP include an Elantra GL STD and an Elantra Hybrid Electric Vehicle (HEV). Hyundai said that both Elantra patrol cars are modeled after the advanced systems used by the Korean National Police Agency, which include features such as surround cameras, radar-based speed detection, and an intelligent plate recognition system.
HMPH noted that the features integrated into the two Hyundai Elantra patrol cars are designed to ensure efficient and enhanced operations, as well as the safety of police personnel.

To put things in perspective, the Hyundai Elantra GL STD is the entry-level variant of the Elantra in the Philippines. It is powered by a 1.6-liter gasoline engine that delivers 127 horsepower and 155 Nm of torque, mated to a six-speed automatic transmission. The Hyundai Elantra GL STD is priced at P1,120,000.
The Hyundai Elantra HEV, on the other hand, is equipped with a 1.6-liter hybrid gasoline engine that generates 139 horsepower and 147 Nm of torque. The engine is connected to a six-speed dual clutch automatic transmission. Pricing for the Hyundai Elantra HEV starts at P1,480,000.
Autocar’s Take
Hyundai Motor Philippines Inc (HMPH) has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the Philippine National Police’s efforts in enhancing public safety and national security. The two Hyundai Elantra units is a follow-up to its initial donation of Hyundai Stargazer units that was handed over in 2024.
The two Hyundai Elantra patrol cars are said to help boost the PNP’s patrol fleet. Handing over vehicles to the PNP and to the local government units is not new, as other car brands also take the same approach. One of which is Toyota Motor Philippines, which has handed over Hilux units to Manila City’s police force.
