Honda Foundation, Inc. (HFI) has planted 2,000 trees in the Sierra Madre Mountains at Barangay Magsaysay, Siniloan, Laguna, to combat deforestation. The said project is part of HFI’s five-year tree-planting and livelihood program.
HFI’s initiative of planting trees is in partnership with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) and the Magsaysay Coconut Farmers Association (MACOFA), with support from the local government of Siniloan. Honda shared that this initiative is part of the DENR’s National Greening Program.
The purpose of this program is to combat deforestation by sustaining the growth and survival of 14,000 fruit-bearing trees, which were planted since the program began in 2024. Now in its third year, HFI shared that the program has achieved its target with the addition of these newly planted trees. HFI added that the program helps provide local communities with fresher air, cleaner water, and natural flood control.

This project, according to HFI, is a testament to its commitment to ensuring that Honda is doing its part for environmental preservation and long-term community well-being. HFI’s efforts also contribute to the realization of Honda’s 2050 Zero Carbon vision.
The recent activity was held in celebration of Arbor Day, an annual tree-planting event in the Philippines every June. It was attended by 80 volunteers, including HFI members, partners from DENR and MACOFA, and other representatives from the government sector.
Members of HFI include Honda Cars Philippines, Inc (HCPI), Honda Philippines, Inc. (HPI), Honda Trading Philippines Ecozone Corp. (HTPE), and Honda Logistics Philippines, Inc. (HLPH). To learn more about HFI, contact (02)-8581-6700 to 6799 and 0917-578-8723.
On the other hand, Honda also participated in International Coastal Cleanup Day last September 2025. Organized by the Sta. Rosa City Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO), it was held in Barangay Caingin, Sta. Rosa, Laguna. The event focused on protecting marine ecosystems and raising awareness of the effects of environmental neglect.

Autocar’s Take
Honda Foundation, Inc. (HFI) remains true to its purpose of doing its part in taking care of the environment as it continues to plant trees to combat deforestation. This is a good initiative since it combats deforestation by sustaining the growth and survival of 14,000 fruit-bearing trees, which were planted since the program began in 2024.
Other car brands in the Philippines are also implementing similar programs that are driven to take care of the environment. Hyundai launched its Laguluan Tree Park: Ioniq Forest Project, while Toyota launched a mangrove reforestation project in Ilocos Norte.
