BAIC Philippines, through its official local distributor United Asia Automotive Group, Inc. (UAAGI), has strengthened its presence in Mindanao with the opening of its new dealership in Davao City. This marks another step in the Chinese car brand’s ongoing expansion across the country.

Owned and operated by Image Cars Davao Inc., the new facility is located in Lanang and is strategically positioned to serve the growing automotive market in Davao City and its nearby areas. The dealership aims to provide customers with easy access to BAIC’s lineup while delivering comprehensive sales and after-sales services.

BAIC Davao features a 180 sqm display area that can showcase up to six vehicles, giving visitors room to explore the brand’s models in a modern retail environment. Complementing the showroom is a 500 sqm service facility with five service bays to accommodate both conventional and electrified vehicles (EVs). BAIC said the service area is aligned with the company’s direction toward supporting current and future-oriented mobility platforms in the Philippines.

“Expanding our BAIC dealer network is about getting closer to our customers. The opening of our Davao dealership strengthens our reach in Mindanao and ensures  customers in Davao City have a reliable partner for sales, service, and long-term ownership support through Image Cars Davao Inc.,” shared BAIC Philippines Brand Head Timothy Sytin.

The new dealership opening also highlights UAAGI’s role in driving BAIC’s local market growth. With over two decades of experience in the automotive industry, UAAGI continues to expand its multi-brand portfolio while maintaining a focus on customer service and after-sales support. BAIC’s current lineup in the Philippines includes a range of SUVs, crossovers, and electrified models designed to meet varying customer needs, from off-road capability to urban mobility.

With the addition of its Davao dealership, BAIC is on its way to capture a larger share of the Mindanao market, which it sees as a key contributing factor in further developing the local auto industry through increased accessibility and service coverage.

Autocar’s Take

BAIC’s expansion in Davao City shows a realistic strategy among automotive brands in strengthening their regional presence beyond Metro Manila. The investment in a full-service facility, including EV-ready service bays and equipment, demonstrates a forward-looking approach that anticipates changing mobility trends.

For customers in Mindanao, this translates to better access not just to vehicles, but to long-term ownership experience, as well – an area that often determines brand success here in the Philippines. While competition in the crossover, SUV, and electrified mobility spaces remains tight, consistent dealer network growth like this is a necessary step for any brand aiming to establish solid credibility in the Philippine market.
