An updated Civic Type R has been confirmed to be coming in the United States this year, as shared by American Honda Vice President of Sales Lance Woelfer during the company’s annual media briefing. The said event also highlighted other product rollouts to be expected from Honda for the US market.

As mentioned, a new Honda Civic Type R will be introduced in the U.S. in 2026, but the automaker has yet to share more details as to what to expect from the updated Civic Type R. As of this writing, Honda did say that the new Civic Type R will be getting updates this year, including “exterior and interior styling changes.”

Other than that, Honda has yet to share more information about the upcoming Civic Type R in the U.S. market. The automaker did not even provide a teaser image of the refreshed Civic Type R, as of this writing.

Could the refreshed Civic Type R for the US market be somehow similar to the approach Honda UK did when it released the model’s Ultimate Edition? For context, the Honda Civic Type R is set to conclude its iconic run in Europe this year, and the Civic Type R Ultimate Edition serves as a commemoration of its 28-year production run. The Ultimate Edition is available in Championship White color with a black roof, red graphics, and an Ultimate Edition rear emblem.

On the other hand, Honda US also shares that the Honda S+ Shift feature, which was introduced in the Prelude, will be added to the Civic Hybrid later this year. The S+ Shift simulates a performance transmission for an enhanced electrified driving experience. It is a sport-focused drive system that sharpens throttle response, simulates gear shifts in the e-CVT, and delivers a more engaging, performance-oriented feel.

Speaking of the Prelude, it is set to make its debut in the Philippines early this year. Honda Cars Philippines, Inc. has, in fact, already uploaded the initial PH specs of the Prelude to the Department of Energy’s (DOE) list of recognized electric vehicles. As such, we can confirm that the PH-spec 2026 Honda Prelude will come with a 2.0-liter e:HEV hybrid gasoline engine that delivers a max output of 182 horsepower and 315 Nm of torque.
