Toyota-endorsed End-of-Life Vehicle (ELV) dismantling facility, En Tsumugi ELV Dismantling Corporation (En Tsumugi), celebrated its second anniversary by unveiling plans that involve expanding its services.

En Tsumugi, a company that has an ELV dismantling facility in Mexico, Pampanga, said that it has an ongoing investment that is dedicated to recovering valuable minerals from used lithium-ion batteries originating from automobiles, appliances, and personal devices. The company aims to recover the minerals from the used lithium-ion battery packs as part of its expanded services.

En Tsumugi will be employing its “black mass” technology for the local recovery and transportability of battery materials. According to the company, this will create new opportunities for the trade of valuable minerals such as lithium, copper, nickel, manganese, and cobalt.

The company’s expanded services will feature a new facility, which will be installed through a three-phase equipment setup, with completion slated for the end of 2026. Then, commercial services are expected to open to automotive clients and partners by early 2027.

En Tsumugi also shared that it will be using a proprietary software platform to eliminate previous challenges concerning measurability, traceability, and data transparency. The system is said to seamlessly manage disassembled units and recycling loops, providing real-time online tracking of recovered materials and their final destinations.

Meanwhile, En Tsumugi reported that its facility in Mexico, Pampanga, has successfully dismantled 516 units since its establishment. En Tsumugi Chief Financial Officer and Marketing Director John Niño Gabinete Hung said the company has handled vehicles of various makes, including old taxi fleets sourced from Davao and fire-damaged electric vehicles (EVs) that required specialized handling on-site before they could be safely transported to Pampanga.

As a Toyota-endorsed ELV dismantling facility, the Japanese automaker continues to provide technical development and guidance to En Tsumugi in ELV systems and management. As a review, key team members from En Tsumugi traveled to Japan early in 2026 to undergo specialized training on electrified vehicle battery recycling, jointly conducted by Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC) and Toyota Metal Co., Ltd.

Autocar’s Take

En Tsumugi, an end-of-life vehicle (ELV) dismantling facility, celebrated its second anniversary of operations by sharing that it has already dismantled 516 units since its establishment. En Tsumugi is a company trusted by Toyota, which explains the Japanese car brand’s relationship with the company. Toyota supported a specialized training program for En Tsumugi that’s focused on the safe handling and dismantling of batteries used in electrified vehicles. Meanwhile, En Tsumugi also partnered with MG Motor PH for the safe and environmentally responsible disposal of MG EV units that were gutted by fire last April 6, 2025.
