Inchcape Philippines, the official local distributor of Changan, is expanding the reach of the Chinese carmaker in the country. Case in point: it recently signed five new dealerships while also investing in the development of its sales network through a dedicated training program for sales managers.
The company recently formalized dealership agreements for upcoming Changan branches in Davao, General Santos, Butuan, Surigao, and San Fernando, Pampanga. The signing ceremony was held at Changan’s flagship dealership along C5 in Pasig, forming part of the brand’s continued expansion strategy in the Philippine market.
Among those present during the event were Angcore Motors Inc. Vice President and Chief Operating Officer and Dealer Principal Tobi Ang, who will oversee the Davao and General Santos dealerships; Global Cars Inc. Dealer Principal Christian Osin for the Butuan and Surigao branches; and Gozun Cars Managing Director and Dealer Principal Matthew Gozun for the San Fernando, Pampanga dealership.

According to Inchcape Philippines, the additional dealerships are intended to strengthen Changan’s nationwide presence while making its products and services more accessible to customers in key areas of Central Luzon and Mindanao. The expansion also supports the company’s goal of delivering quality customer service alongside its growing vehicle lineup.
Alongside the dealership expansion, Changan Philippines also gathered its sales managers for a training program at the C5 flagship dealership in Pasig. The initiative focused on developing leadership capabilities and aligning sales strategies across the dealer network.
The training covered leadership, key performance indicators, planning, team development, inventory management, and operational management. The company said these areas are intended to help sales managers build stronger teams and deliver a more customer-focused dealership experience.
The initiatives reflect Inchcape Philippines’ effort to grow not only its physical footprint but also the capabilities of the people who represent the Changan brand. As competition in the local automotive industry continues to intensify, dealership expansion and staff development remain important factors in improving customer experience and supporting long-term growth.
Autocar’s Take
Changan traces its roots back more than 160 years and has spent 65 years focused on automotive development. It operates research and development (R&D) centers across China, Italy, Germany, Japan, the United Kingdom, and the United States, supporting its global vehicle development efforts. With this colorful history dating back more than a century, Changan’s Philippine expansion is welcome news.
Expanding dealerships is important, but developing the people behind them is just as valuable. Changan Philippines appears to be balancing both by growing its dealer network while investing in leadership training for its sales managers. That combination could help create a more consistent customer experience as the brand reaches more areas across the country, adding to its diary of success, which will likely go the distance for another 100 years.
