Isuzu Philippines Corporation (IPC) announced that Team Philippines had an impressive performance at the 2026 Isuzu I-1 Grand Prix Commercial Vehicle (CV) Competition held in Yokohama, Japan.
The Isuzu I-1 Grand Prix is an annual global technical skills competition organized by Isuzu Motors Limited, gathering top Isuzu service technicians from around the world. It is regarded as one of the most prestigious technical competitions within the global Isuzu network. The I-1 Grand Prix skills competition is designed to strengthen service technicians’ technical proficiency, diagnostic capabilities, and problem-solving skills while promoting consistent, world-class aftersales service standards across international markets.
Team Isuzu Philippines was represented by Marco Comora of Isuzu Alabang and Wilson Palugar of Isuzu Iloilo. They were supported by their coach, Joeminel Cutcharo, Technical Service Engineer of IPC Aftersales Operation Service & Warranty. Of note, Isuzu Alabang’s Marco Comora also performed well during the previously held Isuzu Philippines’ Service Skills Olympics.
Team Isuzu PH competed against representatives from 33 participating countries, and our technicians managed to clinch a 12th-place finish in the Team Competition. Meanwhile, Palugar of Isuzu Iloilo achieved a notable 7th-place finish in the Individual Service Technician Competition, earning recognition among the world’s leading Isuzu commercial vehicle service professionals.

“We are extremely proud of Team Philippines for their excellent performance at this year’s I-1 Grand Prix. Competing against the best Isuzu service technicians from around the world and achieving these results is a strong testament to the skills, dedication, and professionalism of our Filipino technicians,” said IPC Vice President for Aftersales Hodaka Matsuda.
The Japanese automaker shared that the participants of the Isuzu I-1 Grand Prix underwent a rigorous series of assessments designed to test both their technical knowledge and practical expertise in servicing Isuzu commercial vehicles.
The competition includes Virtual Failure Diagnosis or VFD measuring technician’s knowledge in diagnosing through virtual reality, followed by comprehensive written examinations covering vehicle systems, maintenance procedures, technical specifications, and diagnostic principles.
Lastly, participants had practical hands-on examinations, where they must identify and resolve complex vehicle faults, perform technical inspections, and demonstrate accurate diagnostic and repair procedures within a limited time.

Autocar’s Take
The strong performance of Team Isuzu Philippines at the 2026 Isuzu I-1 Grand Prix Commercial Vehicle Competition shows the brand’s commitment to ensuring that its dealership network in the country offers excellent aftersales service. Being included in the Top 15 is a huge win for Isuzu Philippines, as it bested 33 other countries that sent their respective top technicians to the skills competition held in Yokohama, Japan. Team Philippines might not have taken home the first-place trophy, but its performance is more than enough to show that our local technicians are top-notch.
