ACMobility continues to live up to its goal of further expanding the electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure in the country, as it launches Manila City’s first publicly accessible EV charging hub located at the Kartilya ng Katipunan (Bonifacio Shrine) near the Manila City Hall.

ACMobility shared that Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso and Manila Vice Mayor Angela Lei “Chi” Ilagan-Atienza led the inauguration of the ACMobility EV Charging Hub. Joining the inauguration were ACMobility Head of Business Development and Network Operations Maria Bejoc and ACMobility Head of Government Engagements Yvonne Castro.

“We are honored to be the first charge point operator to open a publicly accessible charging hub in the country’s capital city. This development is significant as Manila serves as a role model for other cities and towns across the country. We hope the opening of this charging hub encourages other local government units to embrace electric mobility and start building mobility infrastructure,” said Bejoc.

The EV charging station is equipped with two EV chargers. It has one 22 kW AC charger, which ACMobility claims can recharge a vehicle to up to 80 percent capacity in at least three hours. The other unit is a 30 kW DC charger that can charge an EV to up to 80 percent in 30 minutes to an hour, according to ACMobility.

Mayor Domagoso said that the Manila EV charging hub shows how City Hall is looking to address future needs with tech-based solutions that private sector partners can provide.
“Here is the proof where the government is looking at the future, looking at future problems, and there will be. But in the absence of resources, or with limited resources, we work with the private sector,” Domagoso said.

ACMobility added that it will be launching two more EV charging stations in Manila City, which will be located at the Bagong Ospital ng Maynila and the Sta. Ana Hospital.
